Hi I'm Elaine Ann H.

I live on the west coast of Canada, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to my wonderful husband, Martin, for 36 years, am a mother of four sons, two daughters-in-law, and a grandmother of 3 girls and 2 boys. I love photography, family history and music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon - a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - because I have come to know for myself that what I was taught as a child is the truth. My parents joined this church when I was seven and I remember even then, recognizing truth, when the missionaries taught that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost were three separate personages. I was baptized at the age of eight, and from then, until now, I continue to study and learn more gospel truths which are a part of this church. I know that we are all children of a Heavenly Father who loves us, and that we lived with Him, as spirit children, before we came to this earth. I also know that we will all be resurrected, because of the Savior's atonement, and we can return to live with our Father in Heaven again, being reunited with our families. This gospel brings me joy, and helps me live with hope and have peace in this life.

How I live my faith

At church, each Sunday, I teach songs to the children under the age of 12. They learn songs about prayer, and faith, and how their Heavenly Father and Jesus love each of them. We sing about choosing to do what is right, and about being kind to others. One of the favorite songs is called "I Am A Child of God". I visit with several women in our congregation each month, to share a message from the scriptures, offer assistance and friendship. Over the years, I have enjoyed working with teenagers, by organizing youth conferences, participating in summer camps for girls, ages 12 to 16, and teaching an early-morning scripture class to high school students in grades 9 to 12.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Elaine Ann H.
Yes, I do believe there is a prophet of God on the earth today. Thomas S. Monson, the president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is God's prophet here on earth, at this time. Once the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored, the Lord called a prophet to lead the church, just as He did in ancient times. And because He loves His children just as much now as He did in ancient times, He provides us a prophet to give counsel and warning. This is the pattern God established from the beginning.
