Hi I'm Joe

I grew up on a farm in Idaho, and now live in the Midwest US with my wife and 3 boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have 3 children and have been married for over 16 years. We live in the Midwest. I work for a multinational company as a technical service rep. Cheryl is a stay-at-home mom. We are active in local sports, Boy Scouts, and our church. We love to camp, play summer sports, and travel together, especially to visit extended family in Idaho and Utah. My work takes me primarily around the midwest as I provide technical service to livestock producers. Sometimes my family comes with me, but as the boys get older and more active in their interests, they are not able to travel with me as much.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born to Mormon parents, I remain a Mormon because I have prayed about the beliefs of our religion and have felt the Holy Spirit confirm to me that they are true. This continuing, confirming influence provides direction and peace to me as I continue to develop my faith in Jesus Christ and remain a practicing Mormon.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have served in many lay positions within our local church. My wife serves as a counselor or assistant to the local church's children's auxillary president. I was recently called to serve as the Scout Master and in the Young Men's organization presidency. This means I am responsible to help the 12-18 yr old young men develop their own faith, self-reliance, and service to others. I love this opportunity to serve and make a meaningful difference in other's lives. I have also served in other leadership capacities within our local church. Each has been a wonderful opportunity to draw closer to the Lord through the influence of His Spirit.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Joe
We do not worship Joseph Smith, but revere him as a prophet of God. We believe he was called of God to establish the Mormon Church and religion. He is a prophet of God just as Abraham, Moses, Elijah, and others are prophets of God in the Bible. Joseph Smith was called to do many important things like translate the Book of Mormon, and receive divine revelation and direction for the establishment of the Mormon Church. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Joe
A testimony is our personal witness of God's grace in our lives. It is our witness of His reality, His love, and His guidance in our lives through His Spirit. The witness of His Spirit also provides us with answers to our prayers about what doctrines are true, and what He would have us do to help others. Show more Show less
