Hi I'm Lyle

I love technology. I enjoy watching movies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the beautiful country of New Zealand. At a young age, my family and I moved to Mississippi (USA). To say it was a culture shock would be an understatement! It was one of the greatest challenges of my life. After finishing high school, I started my college education at a local university - as the recipient of two prestigious political science scholarships. I ultimately decided to give up those scholarships and serve as a full-time missionary for the Church. Serving a full-time mission was something I had always thought about doing - especially because of the encouragement and example of my family and local Church members. My time serving in the Idaho Boise Mission was one of the greatest moments of my life! I have never regretted that decision. I am happily married to the greatest woman in the world. She is my best friend, my better half, and a faithful disciple of Christ. We are blessed to be the parents of a wonderful son. He was born three months premature, and is an absolute miracle. Our prayers in his behalf were truly heard and answered. I know Jesus Christ lives. He is the literal living Son of a loving Father in Heaven. Through His death and resurrection, I will return again to the presence of God. And, by keeping His commandments, I can live eternally with God and my family. That brings me the greatest happiness in this life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, I did not become truly converted until I was a student in high school. During those years, I earnestly pondered and prayed about the fundamental beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - such as Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. After several heart-felt prayers, the Holy Ghost bore witness to my heart and mind that those things were true. I am a Mormon because what I know, and how I live, brings me true happiness. I love learning about Jesus Christ; I love testifying about His divine role as Savior and Redeemer. I also enjoy hearing from living prophets and apostles today, who are special witnesses of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Jesus Christ is my ultimate example. I live my faith by trying to be like Him. He spent His entire life serving others, caring for the poor and needy, praying, and loving our Father in Heaven. Throughout my day-to-day life, I strive to do those same things. I have actively participated in many community service projects. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe that being good neighbors and citizens is important. In my youth, I spent several weekends cleaning up after hurricanes in Florida and Mississippi. I also serve in a leadership capacity within my local congregation. I love helping and serving those around me.

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

In the New Testament, we learn that Jesus Christ organized His church on a "foundation of Apostles and Prophets, [he] being the chief cornerstone." In 1820, Joseph Smith prayed to know what church he should join. In answer to that sincere prayer, God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith. He was chosen by God to restore the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was officially organized on April 6, 1830, and has grown to an organization with members and congregations throughout the world. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely! This pattern has occurred throughout history - with Noah, Abraham, Moses, and others. With lots of turmoil and confusion in the world today, it brings me comfort to know that there is a prophet of God on the earth. Prophets receive revelation from God, teach correct doctrine, and direct the Church of Jesus Christ. The words of living prophets have benefited my life in many wonderful ways. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

I believe that Jesus Christ is the literal Son of God, and the Savior of the world. I know that He suffered pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He took upon Him the pains and sicknesses that I would personally experience. On the cross, He took upon Him death that all may live again. I absolutely know that He lives. He loves us eternally. He cares. Show more Show less
