Hi I'm Sarah

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints

About Me

I am a wife, mother, sister, teacher and I wear man other hats everyday! My husband and I run a small business from our home while we raise our three energetic boys.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church for almost 6 years. I had spent much of my life searching for the religion that was right for me. I knew that it had to have the authority of God and that I would know it by it's fruits. A pair of sister missionaries found me one afternoon weeding my garden. They sat with me and talked for over an hour, as they left, they invited me to church on Sunday. I decided that Sunday that I would go and check it out. I had had many friends in school who Mormon and they were all kind nice people. Little did I know at the time that the Lord had been planting the seeds of faith for many years. It took me a year and a half to get baptized. I wanted to know every aspect of the church, I read every piece of literature and studied every aspect. I knew the church was true, but I wanted to make sure I knew everything. Than one day as I sat in Sacrament meeting a brother I knew well gave a testimony, where he stated that he believed so much more than he knew. I realized at that point that I would never in this life time know everything, but I believed everything that was important. I was baptized two weeks later, and met my husband that very same week. I pray everyday that I have to live that I may learn more and strengthen my love for Jesus Christ and his atonement. The things I do know are so sure in my heart and an anchor to my soul. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and who sent his son to die for me. I know that he lives today and he guides a church that can spread that message to the world. I know that he restored that church through Joseph Smith and gave us the Book of Mormon as a sure proof of his love and as a guide for our lives today. I know for curtain that we have a living prophet today that can provide reassurance, guidance and truth as we navigate this ever change world. I know that the truth he teaches have changed my life and forever changed my family tree.

How I live my faith

My husband and I our part of a small Spanish branch in our stake. He served his mission in South America and I majored in Spanish along with Elementary education in college. Both being fluent in Spanish has allowed us the opportunity to serve in many ways. I am currently the 2nd counselor in the Relief Society. I love spending time with the sisters and seeing how each one learns and grows in the gospel and a women of faith.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Sarah
I visited my first church service almost 6 years ago. The missionaries had tracked by my house and had mentioned that they met over by the high school at 9 am on Sunday's. They said that I was welcome to attend. I know I surprised them when I showed up that Sunday. I have felt welcomed and excepted from the first moment that I walked in. The services are traditional and a bit noisy at times (the children are with the adults during the first session). It is a chance for us to partake of the Sacrament and to hear up lifting messages. It is wonderful to see mothers and fathers worshiping with their children. The second part of our Sunday meetings are smaller groups for more personal study. Sunday school for children and adults, some special topics classes and Relief Society (woman's organization) and Priesthood meeting. All our meetings help us draw closer to Christ and live a life that is more Christlike. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Sarah
I have been blessed to always know and believe that was a God that loved me. I was not raised in a particularly religious home, but I knew with out a doubt that their was a Father in Heaven who loved me and wanted to help me. The evidence for me is all around, in creation, in the kind actions of others and everyday miracles that make the world a joyful place. Show more Show less
