Hi I'm Matt

I'm a book collector and fund-raiser. I'm a father, a husband, a son, a brother. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

Raised in the Pacific Northwest, I love all things "outdoors." My parents encouraged learning and reading and my dad always had a book in his hand. We asked questions and our curiosity was cultivated. I am now trying to do the same with my children. I raise money for a major University and enjoy learning about people and what it is in their hearts that causes them to give so generously.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife and I aren't raising our children in the Mormon faith because it is moral and ethical and has safe activities. And yet all those things are very good reasons. No, we do it because we know that Jesus called a prophet like he did in ancient times. Like followers of Christ in all ages, we try to heed the words of God's prophet and know that as we do we will be happy.

How I live my faith

As honestly as I can.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

The Church has no paid clergy because we are all equal in the sight of God. Each member of the Church has made a covenant to stand as a witness of God at all times, in all places, and in all things. As such, any member of the Church may have the opportunity to serve in a leadership capacity. I believe that without a paid clergy those who lead and teach and preach have less incentive to develop a personal agenda. Show more Show less
