Hi I'm Daniel

"So much of what is good in my life can be traced to my efforts to faithfully live the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

About Me

I'm happily married and the proud father of four beautiful children. My work and church service supports my efforts in the home to provide for my family, strengthen my relationship with my wife, and prepare my children for adulthood.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were Mormon, and they taught me about the gospel and took me to church to enjoy the fellowship of other members. When I was eight years old, I was baptized and became a member of the Church myself. As I have grown older, I have renewed my faith through covenants with Heavenly Father as my knowledge and understanding of His plan has increased. Membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been a tremendous blessing in my life, and so much of what is good in my life and of who I have become can be traced to my efforts to remain a faithful member of the Lord's church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the teachings of Jesus Christ, as revealed in ancient scripture and through modern prophets, and then striving to live according to those teachings. I frequently fall short, but I find joy in consistently striving to progress and to improve myself and my surroundings, and to support those around me. In my ward, I serve as a home teacher, visiting a couple members of the congregation to share my faith and look for ways to serve. Before I married, I put my accounting studies on hold for two years to serve as a missionary in Estonia.

Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

Daniel
Just as in Old Testament times, God chooses His prophet. In modern times, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and called him to restore the church. Subsequent to the Prophet Joseph Smith's death, the senior apostle, Brigham Young, became the prophet. This pattern has continued until today, with the senior apostle becoming the becoming the prophet. Apostles are called by prophecy and by revelation, and the Lord has power over life and death, so, ultimately, God chooses His prophet. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Daniel
When I start looking, I see evidence of God and His love for His children all around me. When walking through the woods, gazing into the night sky, or contemplating the miracle of life, something resonates within me and I know that this was all created for a purpose. The most compelling witness I have received has come through quiet, personal prayer. As I learn more about Heavenly Father and His plan for us, even the things that lead some to question the existence of God actually strengthen my faith in Him. Show more Show less
