Hi I'm Joselle Marie

I'm a college student and I am a full time missionary in France, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I actually got my AS degree last year, and after my mission, I hope to transfer to a 4 year University and pursue a career in Psychology or Theater Design. I've lived in California all my life. I have one older brother and both of my parents are converts to the LDS Church. I love my family very much. I also enjoy spending time with my friends. I also enjoy almost anything to do with art (drawing, sculpting, painting, music etc). I like understanding why people do the things they do, and perhaps this is why I have such an interest in psychology. I can hardly wait to leave on my mission this summer - and I'm now just trying to prepare myself to go and spread the word.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were converts to the church, and so I have been raised in it all of my life. In high school my mom sometimes would have to drag me out of bed to church. But once I got into college I'm so glad she did. When I'm going to church and participating in activities with church friends, I just feel good. It just feels right. I have read the Book of Mormon and it has offered me comfort, and assurance through difficult times in my life. I know it is true and the word of God. Without doubt it is a good book, a righteous book, a true book. Thomas S. Monson is a Prophet of the Lord, and I get so excited to know that, every 6 months I get to hear from him and the apostles. They do receive revelation for us, and give us direction to be the happiest we can. From this church I've come to know, with an absolute certainty, that I have a Heavenly Father and he loves me. I know that He wants what's best for me and all I can do is try to follow what he has in store for me. I know that I can either do what I want, or what He wants - and I know in the end, if I follow His guidance I will end up being happier than I could have ever possibly imagined.

How I live my faith

I am currently just trying to participate in regular church activities. I love going to institute classes as well! One of my favorite callings in my ward was to be on the "compassionate service committee" where we, as a small group, would see if there was anyone in the ward that needed help. Either rides to the grocery store, or meals when they were sick, or just a friendly happy birthday card. It was so much fun! I am currently waiting to leave on a mission to France and am so incredibly excited for it!

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Joselle Marie
As long as I have been a member of the church, I have never felt looked down upon by the men. In fact, I have felt quite the opposite. I have felt such an incredible respect for the women in this church. We are all members of the world's largest female organization. Its pretty cool! I believe that men and women are different from one another. These differences allow them to complement one another, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Its just so wonderful and amazing how God thinks everything through. Show more Show less
