Hi I'm Jared Don

I'm a Mormon, and a new father. I'm grateful families can be forever.

About Me

I am a student at a chiropractic school. I recently became a new dad and I am loving every minute of it. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading classic literature, and playing sports like tennis.

Why I am a Mormon

I suppose there comes a time in every ones life when they have to become converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Even for those like me who were born in the church, a conversion was necessary. As a young man I embarked on a mission to share the gospel with others. However, I hurt my leg and had to go home. I asked myself what it was that the Lord wanted me to learn at this time as I should be out preaching the gospel. After many days of searching, I offered a prayer and asked God to help me become the person he would have me become. I felt a reassurance from God at that moment like I had never felt before. At that moment I knew that God knew me, and I knew that He loved me. I knew why I had to come home, so that I could become fully converted to the Lord. I know God lives and is very interested in us on a personal basis.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every single day of my life. My faith has become integrated into who I am as a person. I love drawing closer to the Lord, because I feel Him draw closer to me. I am a Sunday school instructor in my church. I enjoy preparing the lessons, because I feel like I learn more about the topic than I could ever share with my class. Trust me I am not a natural teacher, but I felt the guidance of the Lord in helping me become more effective at what I do. I know the Lord blesses those who earnestly seek him.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jared Don
Yes Mormons are Christians. The name of our church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is said that by there fruits you shall know them. As members of Christ church we live the teachings that Jesus gave us in the Bible. You can judge for yourself. It is true that we accept the Book of Mormon as scripture, but as the title implies it is another testament of Jesus Christ. As one of the prophets in the Book of Mormon stated, so I also state "we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ." And as another Book of Mormon prophet stated, we also believe that "there is no other name given...whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord omnipotent." Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Jared Don
No the church does not endorse political parties. In a statement put out by the church the issue of political neutrality was addressed: "The Church’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, not to elect politicians. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is neutral in matters of party politics. This applies in all of the many nations in which it is established." However, the church has gotten involved with the issues of the day concerning morality. I remember when my state was trying to pass a bill to legalize the lottery and the church sent out a letter asking members to vote against the bill. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

Jared Don
Church is the place we go on a weekly basis to meet with other members of the church and to take the sacrament. At church we are instructed out of the scriptures and taught lessons that will help us through the week and throughout our lives. We go to the temple to make covenants with the Lord. It is at the temple where the highest covenants are made, such as marriage for time and all eternity. Therefore the temple exists as a very holy place where we can commit ourselves to the Lord, and receive His blessings in return. Show more Show less
