Hi I'm Frances

I'm a Mormon. I have been a member of the church all of my life.

About Me

I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I love being close to my family. I love to cook and garden. I love learning. I love teaching, especially working with teenagers. When I was growing up, I had teachers that were very important in my life. That is the reason I became a teacher. I think learning in school and at church should be fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe that this church is the true church that Christ established on this earth. Those who truly live according to the teaching of this church are honest and believe that all people are children of God. It is a great way of life. Studying the scriptures and listening to the leaders of our church helps us to face good and bad things that happen in our lives. Other members reach out to help and support when we are in need and we have that same opportunity to show Christlike love to our brothers and sisters. Wherever I am in the world, I am with family when I am with other members of the church. I love the Lord and I love His gospel. I am grateful to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

In our faith we believe in serving others as Christ served. I have tried to follow that pattern all of my life. My grandmother taught me that serving was the best part of life. My husband and I are serving as humanitarian missionaries in Europe East. It is a very rewarding experience. We live in a small apartment and spend 12 to 15 hours a day helping the poor and the needy. We are privileged to be able to serve the needs of the people in Europe East. Members of the church are so generous to donate money that helps the people here. We were able to give a wheelchair to a teenager that had not been able to go to school because of mobility issues. He started school the next Monday. The smile on his face warmed my heart. Thank you for helping others.

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

Frances
In 2009 and 2010 we have brought clean water into over 40 villages in Armenia. Some of the villages have not had clean water since the 1970's. We help in disaster areas such as Haiti. I have personally helped with aid during a flood in Turkey in 2009. We are one of the largest distributors of wheelchairs in the world. We have seen many places throughout Europe East that have benefited from help from the church. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Frances
No. I am serving a mission right now in Eastern Europe. Most of the help that we give is to people that are not members of the church. Throughout my life, I have always helped my neighbors no matter what their beliefs. Currently, we are giving service and helping people that have never heard of the church. We help with no motive other than someone is in need. Show more Show less
