Hi I'm Kaj

I was born in Poland, I love to travel, I joined the church in 2009 and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Krakow, Poland on April 7, 1987. I moved to Nova Scotia Canada with my Mom and Dad in the year 1990, we have lived here ever since. I did all my schooling here and graduted with my degree in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality. I have worked in the Hospitality industry for a few years. I served in the Warsaw Poland Mission... I speak 4 languages English, Polish, French & Spanish! Being from Poland I was born and raised Roman Catholic. Through-out my childhood I attended church with my family and went to religion classes in school and went through communion and confirmation. But as I got older I didn't feel it anymore and never enjoyed nor liked church anymore so I left the church and really did anything for years.

Why I am a Mormon

In my last year of High School I took a Religious Studies course that taught us all the major religions and we did group projects on other faith like, Baha'i, Jehovah's Witnesses, The LDS Church on many more. I LDS church and its beliefs and teaching really stuck in my mind. During my first semester in University in 2006 I though a lot about the church and remembered that there is a church just around the corner. During my lunch break I decided to take a drive up there and see if it was open. It's easy to drive to a place, but for me to get out of my car and actually enter the chapel after years of no religion must have been the promptings of the spirit. I met with the Sister Missionaries in a few times and they committed me to baptism. However being a full-time University student and working full-time, exams, homework I barley had any personal time yet alone any time to meet with the Sisters so I unfortunately had to stop my meeting for now. In 2009 after graduating and having a steady career I remembered how I originally got the Book of Mormon. I ordered it on Mormon.org and it came to my mail. I proceeded to do the same thing and this time it came with a twist. The book was delivered by two Elders to my door. . Elder Young & Elder Farrance! Unfortunately I was at work. They tried to come again at a later date and again I was working... I love the Elders they didn't give up at that point even after being told by my dad that I wasn't interested since he didn't know! They left the book with my mom and put their number to it. They knew that they were trying to meet Kaj not anyone else and I am grateful they never gave up after the first or second try. I contacted them on my next day off and told them about my past experiences with the Sisters and the church and asked to meet with them the next day. November 2009, the start of my lessons. From day one I told them I wanted to be baptized and on December 12 2009 I did just that!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures, attending Sacrament meetings weekly and maintaining an amazingly close friendship with not only the Elders that taught me but anyone's that enter my Ward. I love my calling, I am always busy if I am not at work I am out and about with the Elders teaching people with them and going door to door with them. I do a lot with the Elders which I am very grateful for. I feel that I am more and more prepared for my mission which I plan to serve in early 2011! I got my Melchizedek Priesthood very early in my membership in the church. I love this church and all it's teaching, it has really made a big impact on my life and I no know the meaning of true happiness. I also now know what I have been missing through-out my childhood. I may be the only member in my entire family but they see how happy I am, and support me 100% I couldn't ask for more!

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a sacred text of the Latter Day Saint movement. It was first published in March 1830 by Joseph Smith, Jr. as The Book of Mormon: An Account Written by the Hand of Mormon upon Plates Taken from the Plates of Nephi. According to Smith's account, and also according to the book's narrative, the Book of Mormon was originally written in otherwise unknown characters referred to as to as "reformed Egyptian" engraved on golden plates. Smith said that he received these plates in 1827 from an angel named Moroni, whom Smith identified as a resurrected indigenous American who had written and abridged parts of the book over a millennium ago. According to Smith, Moroni had buried the plates in a stone box, along with other ancient artifacts,4 in a hill near Smith's home in Manchester, New York. The Book of Mormon is the earliest of the defining publications of the Latter Day Saint movement. The churches of the movement typically regard the Book of Mormon not only as scripture, but as a historical record of God's dealings with the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, written by American prophets from perhaps as early as 2500 BC to about AD 400.
