Hi I'm Nathan Lee

I grew up in Central Florida but have lived all over the world, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 5 great kids and am a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. I enjoy working on cars (especially old ones), SCUBA diving, camping, surfing, hiking and anything on the beach. My greatest source of joy is my family, I love doing anything I can with my wife and kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I have investigated many religious groups throughout my life and was always left with so many unanswered questions and feelings of uncertainty with their interpretations of scriptural doctrine. I was raised as a Catholic, explored the Baptist faith and also a few other Christian non-denominational groups which all seemed to have some very good pieces of the puzzle but not the whole thing. Several months after marrying my wife, who happened to be a Mormon, I agreed to sit down and talk with the young Sister Missionaries where we lived. After many discussions and much prayer, the Holy Ghost gave me an undeniable witness of the truthfulness of Mormon doctrine and beliefs. Shortly after that I was baptized and have never looked back.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving wherever I can in the church and the community. I've been active with the Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting programs over the years and also take any opportunity I get to work with homeless or families in need. I also serve as a counselor in one of our Priesthood Quorums for men over the age of 18 which is quite busy and rewarding.

How is the Book of Mormon different from the Bible? How did Joseph Smith obtain the “golden plates” or Book of Mormon?

Nathan Lee
For me, one of the biggest differences between the Book of Mormon and the Bible is the context of the doctrine. The Bible has many lessons for the individual and the Book of Mormon feels more focused on the family and community. Both books have elements of both but I feel that the Bible has more individual guidance and the Book of Mormon has more community and Family guidance from our Heavenly Father. Joseph Smith obtained the golden plates after humbly seeking guidance from our Heavenly Father. Years after praying to know which church to join as a 14 year old boy, he was visited by an Angel of the Lord and shown where the plates were left from ancient times and charged with their translation to English shortly after. What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Nathan Lee
Absolutely. Given the many translations and versions of the Bible we do use the King James version as the standard. Show more Show less
