Hi I'm Ceilia Dawne

I'm a disciple of Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Southern California in the high desert where winters are cold and windy and summers are hot and windy. I am a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. My husband is my beloved companion of almost 30 years. I love to sing, play the piano (I'm not great, but I'm getting better), read, sew, knit and crochet and I love to walk (3 miles a day). I'm looking forward to retirement and am jealous that my husband gets to sleep in every morning as I make my way to work.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was baptized into the church at age 10 and was involved in the various organizations during my childhood, teen and young adult years. After the end of my first marriage, I became inactive, and remained so for 15 years. During that time, I felt a profound loss, and I knew that something was missing in my life. The love that other women in the Church showed me as they visited me - just to see how I was doing and to let me know that they cared, played a large part in my decision to go back to church, to start making better choices and to be a better wife and mother. As soon as I returned, I felt the loving arms of my Heavenly Father around me. I gained a better understanding of the true meaning of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the power of repentence. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and the change it has made in my life. My husband joined the Church and we are working toward the goal of eternal marriage. I have seen lives change - including my own, through this true gospel. I know that this is Jesus Christ's true church on earth today, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet, selected by the Lord to restore the Gosel of Jesus Christ to the earth during this last dispensation. We are blessed to have a prophet on earth today, and his name is Thomas S. Monson. I know that the gospel is true, and that I am blessed everyday to have this testimony.

How I live my faith

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the opportunity it gives me to serve others. I work in the women's organization in our church, helping others to feel the love of our Heavenly Father and His son, Jesus Christ through visiting other women in the church. Sometimes it means I write a letter or a note with a gospel message, sometimes I may only have the chance to say hi or drop off something tasty at their homes. Most importantly, it's my chance to let other women know that they are beloved daughters of a loving Heavenly Father - and they are important. On occasion, I play the piano for some of the Church meetings, direct the music and sing in the choir.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Ceilia Dawne
Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of our Heavenly Father. He is the Savior of the World and is our advocate to the Father. Jesus Christ suffered in Gethsamane as He took upon Himself the sins and sorrows of each and every one of us, and He died on the cross at Calvary to redeem us from the bondage of sin. He willingly came to earth so that we, each one of us, could return to our Father in Heaven. He lived a perfect life, a life of example. I am so thankful for the atoning sacrifice of the Savior. Because of his sacrifice I know that I can live with Him someday. Show more Show less

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Ceilia Dawne
The scriptures are a huge blessing in our lives. When you open the Book of Mormon or the Bible, you are receiving instruction from the Lord on how to live a better, more fulfilling life. I love to read - and as I read of the stories of Jesus Christ, I gain a greater understanding of the promises that are available to me if I remain faithful and follow His teachings. The scriptures are a guide back to our Heavenly Father of the things that we must do to return to Him oneday. The scriptures are full of promise and love. They offer comfort in time of need, they teach us and bless us and when we read them faithfully, they lead us. Show more Show less
