Hi I'm Brad

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Colorado and I'm in college majoring in elementary education. I like motorcycling, listening to music, and reading. I served a two-year mission to Ireland and Scotland.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by a friend. I was curious and ordered a copy of The Book of Mormon. I read a part of it, and then knelt down and asked God if what I was reading was true, and really from Him. I was very skeptical, but I believed God would answer. I thought about it often. A short while later, as I was driving down the road, an overwhelming sense of peace and comfort overcame me. It wasn't an emotion, or any kind of internal feeling, it was different and new, it was the Holy Ghost. That's how I learned that the Book of Mormon is true, and from there, that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by following the basics. Going to Church on Sunday, and studying the scriptures help me learn. Praying often keeps me in tune with God's Spirit. Then I try to serve others, and trying to follow the example of Jesus as best I can. When I screw up, I pray and ask for forgiveness and try not to make the same mistake again. Add all this to the routine of daily life, and it makes for a pretty happy way to live.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The word "Atonement" means to ransom, or to pay the price. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the sacrifice, or price, Christ paid for everyone. It includes His agony in Gethsemane where he took upon Himself all our sins, pain, and sickness and concludes with his death on the cross and His resurrection. Only He could do it, and we can only be made clean from sin through His Grace, or the power of the Atonement. Show more Show less

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

They're going to talk about how the Gospel, or God's plan, has been restored through a prophet named Joseph Smith. They'll explain what that Gospel is, and how you'll learn about it from the Book of Mormon. They're going to invite you to read, pray about it, and learn about it for yourself. Ask them anything at all, and don't hesitate to express your feelings. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. That's not to say we focus on the supposed "mistranslations", nor is it a way of saying the Book of Mormon is superior. The Bible is beyond value or price for any latter-day saint. Personally, I find alot of insight and wisdom in the four Gospels, the words of Christ himself to the world. The Book of Mormon adds its testimony to those divine truths. Show more Show less
