Hi I'm Eric S

I grew up in Oregon and Texas. I'm a CPA working in finance.

About Me

I grew up in Oregon and Texas, served a mission for the Church in the Philippines, and now I'm living in New England. I enjoy the outdoors. I especially enjoy the outdoors with my family - my wife and young twin babies. I work in finance and enjoy being creative - both in business and otherwise.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in the teachings and doctrines. I started out being a Mormon because my parents/family were. I quickly learned that I needed to have a foundation of belief all my own, so I worked to gain that testimony for myself. The Mormon Church provides me many, many opportunities to practice my faith by serving others.

How I live my faith

I believe you have to practice your faith in your daily life. That's what being a Christian is all about. I try to serve those around me and participate in valuable community events. Most of my community service comes through being a member of the Church. I've served in the Church in many teaching capacities - I love to teach because I feel like I grow so much as well.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Eric S
No it doesn't. This is often misunderstood though. Sometimes the Church will endorse certain positions that have moral consequences, but never specific candidates or parties. One thing you will hear from the pulpit is encouragement to vote and take part in the process. I always appreciate that reminder - that being part of a democratic society comes with the responsibility to take part in the process. Show more Show less
