Hi I'm Katie

I love being a mormon!

About Me

My husband and I were married in the Portland, Oregon Temple. We have 2 girls and 3 boys. I love marriage and motherhood. I believe the work I do as a wife and mother has a great influence on my children, that spreads into our community, and then society as a whole. I feel honored to be a Latter-Day Saint. I love beaches, hiking, inspiring movies and music, bike rides, desserts, and making family memories.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the mormon faith from my parents and grandparents. I gained my own testimony on my own, though. I learned bit by bit and piece by piece through faith, prayer, experiences, and reading the scriptures. Being a mormon makes me happy. It explains where I came from, how to deal with today, and where I'm going after this life. I love having that knowledge. It gives me great peace.

How I live my faith

We go to church every Sunday to partake of the sacrament, to remember our Savior, Jesus Christ-his life, his teachings, his example, and his sacrifice for each of us. Then throughout the week, I do my best to be good and do good. I try to be a good mom by really listening to my kids, I remember my marriage covenants and encourage my husband, I try to be aware of my neighbors by offering help and friendship, and I try to work at my talents and abilities to contribute to my home and community. Sometimes I make mistakes, and I don't always do the exact, right thing each moment or each day. But I keep trying, and then on Sundays, remember what our Savior, Jesus Christ has done for me. I try my best, then the Savior helps me with the rest.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Turn a movie off, throw the magazine away, be on your computers with doors open in the daylight - where others can see what you are doing and looking at, be mindful of what you are viewing and doing on your cell phones. As a parent, learn the right things about how to protect what is viewed in your home and by your family members. When appropriate report a problem, to a company or person(s) to let them know if something is offensive to you or your family members. Speak up when you can. You can make a difference. What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

The sky, the trees, the flowers, mountains, being outside, nature, and the beautiful earth that we live on. Miracles all around me. The sun rising each day. Prayers and the answers to those prayers. Receiving answers immediately or in the long term. Praying to find lost keys, then finding them. Other times when making important life decisions, answers to those prayers can come weeks, months, or even years later. The answers always come even if it's not the answer I wanted. Peace & understanding come in it's place. All of these things and many others tells me that God lives and loves me. Show more Show less
