Hi I'm Travis

I write novels and poetry. I teach freshman English. I'm a Christian. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a photographer. I love Photoshop and Lightroom (not to mention Illustrator and InDesign). I also do graphic design. I'm a grad student in a MA English program, studying rhetoric. I teach freshman English as a graduate instructor. I write poetry and fiction. And I hope to enroll in a creative writing PhD program soon.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. But my testimony was really solidified when I went on a mission for the church. As the scriptures teach, if a person will do the Lord's will, he will know whether it's true or not. As I served and taught others, I learned for myself that it is true. In the years since my mission, I have continued to learn about the gospel as I do my best to devote my life to others.

How I live my faith

I try to study the gospel daily, and also pray often. My temple goal is to visit once a week, and I feel the Lord blesses me with an added portion of the spirit as I do. I think one of the most important things though is to reach out to my friends, neighbors, and even strangers whenever I can. It's a hard thing to do, especially since I'm naturally very shy. But sometimes it can be something as simple as smiling at someone or asking how their day is going.
