Hi I'm Randal

I am a dad with five kids. I am a Safety, Health, and Environmental Professional. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father with four children. I have been happily married for 11 years. I serve our community on a local Library Board of Trustees. I love the Boy Scouts of America and am an Assistant Varsity Coach in the unit our ward sponsors. I received a Master's degree in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Biochemistry. I love to read and learn new things. I work as an Environmental Professional.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Some would say that the easy answer is that my parents were mormons. But that would not be the true story. I thank my parents for encouraging me to attend church and teaching me but the reason I am a Mormon, or member of the Lord's church is a very personal one. During high school I lived many of the challenges that all youth face these days. "Friends" asking me to party with them, not having many friends because I wouldn't party with them and such. But as I grew I found strength in my Faith and strength each week as I attended church. I made some mistakes in my life that forced me to my knees to ask forgiveness from God. It was through the Atonement of Jesus Christ that I was forgiven and given a new breath in life. Later in life when my grandmother and mother passed away I was again able to lean on the Savior and receive important strength. Through prayer and study of the words of Jesus Christ and his prophets I have felt the Holy Ghost testify to my soul that this Church is true and is truly the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each and every day. The main thing that I do that shows my faith in Jesus Christ is trying to help others that are in need each day. More formally I serve in our local Library District's governing Board of Trustees. I love books and knowledge and appreciate the opportunity to play a part in providing this service to our community. I teach a class of young men ages 14-15 who hold the Aaronic Priesthood and the office of a Teacher. I also have a blast with these young men in our congregation as an Assistant Vasity Coach with our Boy Scout Varsity Team. Scouting is a great way to really start boys off with great character.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No one is required to serve a mission. All young men and senior couples are encouraged to serve. I served a mission and I can say that it is a unique experience to serve Jesus Christ for two years and focus just on serving him. Show more Show less

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

We love having visitors at our meetings. It may seem a little daunting to have church for 3 hours, but it is split into three sections. First we meet for a Sacrament Meeting where a lay minister Bishop conducts but we are taught my fellow members of the congregation. Next we attend Sunday School with everyone split up by ages. For the third hour we are instructed further by splitting up by children, young men, young women, woman, and men. Here we receive instruction that helps us to fulfill our responsibilities as men, women, fathers, mothers, wifes, husbands, children, grandparents, etc. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

The Bible is the record of our Heavenly Father's relation and communication with his children in the middle east. There we can understand and see his love and desire for us to follow Him. His prophets told of the coming of Jesus Christ and people throughout time from Adam until now were taught of the importance of Christ's sacrifice or atonement for our sins. The old and new testaments add to the witness that Jesus Christ would come, came, died, was resurrected, and lives again today to save us. What a blessing to have the words of God's prophets preserved throughout time to teach us and bless us. I am so very thankful for those faithful people and their examples for me. Show more Show less
