Hi I'm Steven Mac S.

I was raised in California until my family moved to Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I study Business Management and I have about 2 years left of college. I played soccer in High School and still enjoy playing soccer and spending time with family and friends. I'm the youngest of four siblings. We are all really close and we like to make each other laugh. I speak Italian. I served a mission in Italy.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormon. I'd be lying if I said that I chose to go to church when I was a little boy. I enjoyed church when I was little. I think I was around 11 years old when I first asked myself, "wait, am I living like this because of tradition or because I don't know any other way to live, or because I feel forced to?" At that point I really started to think for myself and tried to figure things out myself. Long story short, I studied the doctrine in more depth, I tried to apply the principles of faith and repentance and the other simple truths of the Restored gospel. I asked God directly if these things were of Him. I asked God to let me know if I was on the right path and Heavenly Father answered my prayers. I am a Mormon because God responded to my prayers and through the Holy Ghost I know that the teachings of Christ in the Book of Mormon and Bible are the truth.

How I live my faith

Another brother and I take turns teaching from the scriptures on Sundays. Also, I go and visit a few families every month and see how they are doing and leave them with a spiritual thought from the scriptures. During the week I study the scriptures in my apartment daily and study in a classroom setting on Wednesday evenings. I try to apply what I studied. I don't think it is so important how much I know about the scriptures as it is how I try to live like the Savior. I try to ask myself, "What would Jesus do?" on a daily basis. I try to work with other Christians to help the poor. I'm certainly not perfect and I could do a lot better. An important part of how I live my faith is repenting. Talking to God and asking for His help and being purified through His Atonement and through taking the Sacrament weekly. In the end, I'd say that's the most important part of my faith.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Steven Mac S.
No. Mormons do not worship or pray to Joseph Smith. We respect him the same we respect Moses or any other servant of God. Joseph Smith did NOT suffer for our sins and he is not a source of redemption. We do talk about him a lot which might be why some people think that we worship him. The reason we talk about him often is because he is the prophet who translated the Book of Mormon and Restored truths about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ whom we worship. He restored the answers to questions about where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going after this life. Is he important to Mormons? Yes. Do we worship him? No. Show more Show less
