Hi I'm Kevin

I live in New Jersey. I am a criminal prosecutor, husband and dad. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

After graduating from college, my wife and I put everything we owned inside our Ford Focus and trekked back to the East coast where I am an assistant prosecutor. We have been married for more than five years and have two happy boys. We enjoy small, walkable towns, good cheese, leisurely bike-rides, relaxing at the Jersey shore, visiting historical sites, and playing with our boy. We love meeting new people and sharing our beliefs with those who want to know why we are the way we are. More than anything else though, we love the Restored Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Jesus Christ restored His true Gospel to His chosen prophet, Joseph Smith. The most wonderful thing about the message of the Restoration is that we have fruits through which we can test its validity. Only one simple question must be answered. Is the Book of Mormon true? It either is or it isn't. It cannot just be a good book with good teachings and intentions. It is either the word of God, translated by a prophet, Joseph Smith, at the direction of Jesus Christ, or it is a hoax. I knew there could be no middle ground. Taking the challenge to pray and ask God myself, the Holy Ghost bore witness to my spirit that it was true. Once I knew the answer to that question, I knew its translator, Joseph Smith, was a true prophet and that the Church restored through him was the one and only true and living Church of Jesus Christ. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I remember driving in the car with a high school friend of mine and him asking me about my church. After a few minutes he declared, "your church isn't just a place you go on Sundays at all, it's a way of life!" The path of discipleship in Christ's church certainly is a way of life and dictates all I do. Right now I serve on the stake high council and belong to a small branch of the Church established on October 10, 2010 in Camden, NJ. We strive, together with our branch, to serve the people of Camden both spiritually and temporally. Camden is a city that struggles, perhaps more than anywhere else in the US, with poverty and crime. Only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can make a lasting and life changing impact on the lives of those searching for escape from urban troubles. Together with all the members of our branch living in Camden, we seek out those who are ready to accept Christ and build their lives upon that foundation. Needless to say, the Gospel way of life keeps me busy and I couldn't be happier about it.

How does the Church finance its operations?

Members of the Church live the law of tithing. By giving 1/10 of all our income we make it possible to build church buildings, temples, print books of mormon, videos, etc. Perhaps one of the most surprising things about the Church for those just learning, none of the bishops, stake presidents, teachers, or any other leader in the entire church is paid for their services. It is all true service! Tithing truly goes to the building of the kingdom, not anyone's personal bank accounts! Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Nope. We respect and love him, perhaps more than most any mortal to walk this earth, as a chosen vessel of God. But our worship is reserved for our Heavenly Father and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
