Hi I'm Michael

I'm from Pennsylvania. I went on a mission to Virginia. I'm a genealogist and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My faith in Jesus Christ and his gospel means everything to me. I love my family and want to be able to be with them forever. I love to do genealogy so that I will learn more about my family, including those who lived before me. The ordinances of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offer me hope. I know I can be with my family again when I go to the temple.

Why I am a Mormon

It seems to me like everyone will have some trials in life and some times when they wonder why they are even here. The question may even come: "Is life worth living?" It is my faith in Jesus Christ and his words in the Book of Mormon that stand as anchors in my life; it is these that permit me to answer with a confident "Yes, it is!" Without Jesus Christ there would be no life after death and without the Book of Mormon I would not know as completely as I know now that Jesus is the only way. Indeed I have felt this sure witness and though trials still come I know life is worth it.

How I live my faith

Like other Mormons, no matter where I live there is an opportunity for me to serve. It is always fun to get an assignment in the local congregation. I love being a home-teacher and visiting other members. It is a great chance for me to be a friend, but also to make friends. It is also a great way to make sure everyone has what they need. When people have a hard time their home-teacher can help. Currently I enjoy the assignment of scheduling trips to our local temple. We have a trip planned for almost every week. It feels so peaceful and close to God there; It makes me happy to have a part in encouraging my congregation to take trips together. Besides assignments in the church their are always opportunities to serve all around us. My faith in Jesus Christ makes me happy and I just like to do nice things for people to show it. Smiling is one of my favorite things to do to brighten someone else's day.

What is a ward/stake/branch?

In our church we use terms like ward, stake and branch when talking about different congregations of people. A regular-sized congregation with perhaps 100-250 people from a specific area is called a ward. The same thing for a "branch," but those can be much smaller than 100 people. A stake is our word for a group of congregations (mostly wards) and may often include 7-8 wards. We meet as a stake for special meetings a few times a year. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending a Mormon Church and a Mormon Temple?

Church is an every Sunday traditional-like worship service. The temple is an extra-special, dedicated house of the Lord where you go after much spiritual preparation and feel set apart from the rat race of life. For Mormons the temple is a highlight of spiritual worship. It is a goal for many Mormons to be married there because of how special it is. Show more Show less
