Hi I'm Cory

I am a father, doctoral student, outdoor enthusiast, tech junkie, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 30 year old father of two. I live and breathe graduate school as an doctor of audiology student. My wife and I love being in our little family and though times have been tough getting through school and living on a prayer at times we have been ever so blessed. I love the outdoors, especially skiing and take any chance I have to be out playing. I am also a technology enthusiast and enjoy learning new skills with mobile, computer, and web development. Life has not always been easy for me. I gave up a career in retail that was headed for a comfortable life to return to school because I felt it was right. I have had to work hard to stay ahead in school and with a little family graduate school has not been easy either. I enjoy talking with people and learning more about their experiences in life and taking the best from those that I meet to improve myself. I look forward to meeting new people and having great new experiences in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon by birth, as in to say my family has been members of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for several generations. But, I have worked to know for myself that being a Mormon is something that I want to do in my life for me and not just because my family is Mormon. I have read the Book of Mormon and really felt that it was true when I was serving in Asia as a missionary. The message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is so dynamic! There is something new to learn each time I looked and there is something for everyone that is uniquely theirs when they begin to study the Gospel. I have felt for myself the love of my Heavenly Father and know that He is there for me. He watches me, He wants me to succeed and though I may not like it at times He pushes me to change, improve, and be a better person through challenges that I face in life. I know that Jesus Christ is there for me and that He also loves me. He asks of me to have faith, repent of my wrong doing, turn to him, and endure in good works every day and for doing these things I have the privilege to feel of His love and care for me. I know that He lives and that being a Mormon is where I need to be in my life. There is not a way I can see my life being what it is without the challenges that I have faced and overcome with the help of my Mormon faith. I value my faith and want it to stay strong for I know that this will be the only way I am able to take on the challenges I will face in my future while raising my family in an ever changing world.

How I live my faith

I have worked with the youth of the church in programs that help them to develop their faith and become better, stronger people. I have enjoyed several positions in which I am able to teach the youth and other members of my ward/congregation. I have had the opportunity to help people around me learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and some of them have joined the Church. I try to live my life in a way that other know of my convictions and see that I care about the things that I believe in. I look for ways to help my neighbors and be a good person for them to interact with. In my ward now I am a home teacher and have the opportunity to teach a couple of families in my area. I get to become their connection with the ward and be there for them if there is anything that they need. Though I am not perfect I I try my best to be there for those around me and take the time to help them in the ways that I can. I live my faith by trying to be the person I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ want me to be and by doing so I benefit so much from the things I learn from those around me.
