Hi I'm Sean

Grew up in Utah. Now in Colorado (gotta stay with the mtns!). Have a great family with wife and 5 kids. Like anything good.

About Me

I grew up in a good LDS family in the heart of LDS-dom in Utah. Learned piano, trombone, worked hard in school and enjoyed learning computer things back at the beginning of the PC era. Studied engineering and comp sci in college and work in that arena now. Enjoy going outdoors on backpack trips and other camping, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, sledding, etc. My latest challenge was completing a triathlon - good times! In my first year of college I was blessed to be able to go on semester abroad at BYU Jerusalem - what an amazing experience as I look back on it. It was a great way to be out on my own away from family for the first time, cohorting with other fellow young students who had the same general desires for good and the eagerness to learn and experience a different world. It was amazing to see the places of history, and along with that really study more in depth the scriptures and Jesus and put it all into more perspective. Sure, one can have testimony-building spiritual experiences anywhere, but having this intense concentrated experience in the Holy Land itself was just indescribable. So, now that I've gone on about that pivotal time, what else? Well my mission to Spain was even more amazing and wonderful, growing closer to people and the Savior. Meeting and marrying my wife Julianne and having 5 great children has been the most transformative experience of all in coming closer to Father and Jesus. It's great to live life with all its opportunities!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to great LDS parents who provided great experiences in learning and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, in the Mormon way. That of course affects where I would eventually lead my life, but it wasn't coersive to the point of absolute force to live as a Mormon. Thru many experiences and studying the things I have been encouraged to study from prophets of God and the Christ in this church, I feel that it is right, and it all makes good sense to me to my satisfaction. We are taught that it is the Spirit of God that is giving us these 'right' feelings, and I believe it. Living the way our church leaders and scriptures teach me to live, I do feel at peace with myself and God. When I go contrary to such teachings, I just don't feel quite right. Let everyone decide for them self what kind of life they want to have, but I strongly hope for and encourage all to truly learn what 'Mormonism' teaches and is, and decide from a position of understanding rather than just ignorance and hearsay.

How I live my faith

First, I need to be a righteous husband and father - if I'm not that, I am far less than I otherwise can be. Next, I hope to be of service and friendly to all others in helping them thru struggles both physical and spiritual. The way to do this is thru charity - the pure love of Christ, that which He is, and also imparts to us thru His grace. I hope to be charitable in all senses of the word. I feel that I do achieve this to a decent extent, but of course need to overcome my failings and use Christ's Atoning grace to help me be better. Thanks be to Him to provide a way to overcome faults and the effects from those faults, otherwise we would simply be messed up forever.
