Hi I'm Donovan G.

I'm a husband. I love going to the movies. I'm a full time student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am basically your average guy all things considered. I love going to the movies and watching them at home with my beautiful wife. We started collecting movies when we got married and love the collection we have built. We try to keep them to mostly wholesome films that will help us have the Spirit in our home. I consider myself a nerd and love most of the major film/book franchises such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. I currently go to school for business management with an emphasis in human resources. I am almost done with that degree and plan on getting work experience before going on to get my MBA. My ultimate goal is to own my very own business someday with my wife. My wife and I have no kids yet (unless you count our 2 beautiful dogs) but want to have a good size family. I love the idea of being a dad and hope that I can live up to the many great examples I have had throughout my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents both joined the Mormon church when they were twelve years old and then met years later. I had the good fortune to be born into a loving family that raised me to be a part of this amazing church. I did not however truly become converted to the gospel personally until I was a teenager. It was then that I decided that I would read the Book of Mormon for myself in order to find out if I believed that it was true and in turn the church itself. I received a witness through the Holy Ghost that this was the true church of God restored to this Earth. I have not been perfect since that day because no can be. It is due to my imperfections that I have grown to know of the power of Jesus Christ's atonement in my life. I know that through the healing power of repentance and forgiveness the atonement can truly change your heart and bring you closer to your Lord and Savior. I know that Lord has again restored His priesthood power to this Earth. That power is one of the strongest reasons I have to be a Mormon. Whether it be a simple blessing pronounced upon the sick to help heal or the power that it has to seal families for all eternity, the power is the same. I am so grateful to know that I will be able to be with my wife forever as long as we strive to do the best we can. This church brings hope and light in the darkest times as well as a brightness that magnifies the good. I truly do not know where I would be today if it were not for my belief in this wonderful church. I am forever grateful to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am a far from perfect individual but I try my best to be an example to those around me. I serve to the best of my ability in my local church congregation in a few different ways. My main assignment is to help teach and guide the young men ages 12-18 by helping to oversee not only their classes on Sunday but also other weekly activities that are held to provide a wholesome avenue for recreation and learning. I'm also assigned a few families in our congregation to visit at least once each month and share a message with them about our Savior. This program I just mentioned is called home teaching and it is a wonderful way to grow closer as a congregation and provide at times a much needed avenue for love and support. As I said before I am far from perfect in fulfilling these responsibilities but I try my best to accomplish them so as to show my thanks to my Heavenly Father for all he has given me. I also try my best to live the standards that the Lord has set forth in dealing with those around me.
