Hi I'm Jessika

I'm a stay at home mom, a graphic designer, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to learn, I graduated Brigham Young University with a Bachelors in Home and Family Science and a minor in music. Since then I've also finished certificates in Accounting and Web Design. I have my own graphic design business, which I do from home, and have found so much joy in the creative arts. Ever since I was young, I've loved to sing and perform, and I've been able to visit New York, London and China while singing in choir. I was married to my wonderful husband in the Oakland temple 4 years ago and we have a two year old boy, who keeps me very busy! We hope to add 3-5 more children to our family, I love kids and having a big family; I grew up with six siblings and loved it. Now that I have my own family and a very modest income, I've grown to enjoy finding ways to be more frugal so that we can still enjoy life and don't have to be burdened by debt. I also enjoy cooking, dancing, photography, water skiing and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

Some might say I didn't have a choice to be a member of the church because my parents are both Mormon, so it was just expected that I would be too. I grew up learning about Jesus Christ and that his Atonement gives us the opportunity to live with our families and God, our Heavenly Father, forever. As I've grown older, I've questioned the beliefs I was taught and discovered that I needed to figure out if I really believed them for myself. Studying the scriptures has filled me with a new hope and joy, and I can feel that the words in them are true. I've always loved to pray and although I can't hear or see God, I've had many experiences when my prayers have been answered and I know He hears me. Sometimes when I pay close attention, I receive an inspiration or a feeling to do something and I know those are some of the ways I can "hear" God. When I prayed to know if the scriptures are actually His words, I felt an overwhelming sense of happiness and peace so strong that I have never doubted since.

How I live my faith

We recently moved to Springville, Utah, and have made many friends from church. I'm amazed at how friendly everyone is, we were welcomed as family by everyone and we truly feel like we live in a place where we belong. This close knit community has made it easier for me to reach out to others and live a more fulfilling life. In church, I was asked to serve the sisters to help them know they are loved and cared for, especially by our Heavenly Father. I love going to the temple, which is a place to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ and become closer to God. Every time I go, it feels amazing to not worry about the menial stresses of my everyday life and focus on simple yet profound eternal life matters. I remember how it's most important to be a virtuous person, to treat everyone with love and strengthen my relationship with God, who provides the greatest peace and joy.
