Hi I'm Amber

I'm an average everyday girl living my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single 19 year old female. I currently am attending college to become an aerospace engineer and have always had a passion for math. I also recreationally participate in multiple sports including soccer, softball, and volleyball. I love to dance and sing all the time - it is a huge part of my life!

Why I am a Mormon

Missionaries came knocking on my door one summer when I was 14 years old and my mother allowed them to start teaching my family. Although I was not interested in first, over time I did begin to amuse the missionaries and listen to them. My mother was baptized in October of 2005 and that is when she started bringing me to church with her on Sundays. In November the missionaries challenged me to read the Book of Mormon, which was also a challenge issued by the prophet to the entire church at the time. I took that challenge and finished the Book of Mormon in 5 days. All throughout that time I was praying constantly throughout the day about the truthfulness of the book and the prayer and study continued until Christmas Eve. That night as I was kneeling next to my bed a wave of emotion and encouragement came over me. I knew that I needed to be baptized. My heart was finally open and soft enough to receive an answer from the Lord and he gave me a very clear one. I was baptized that same week into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and it was the happiest moment of my life. It was truly an out of this world experience and nothing can replace it. I have continued asking guidance from God and know that he does lead this church. I know that everyone can gain a testimony if they are sincere about asking God. He continues to uplift me and although I still have low moments when I am depressed, those are also the moments when I have become closest to God.

How I live my faith

I have to make everyday and new day and remember to keep God involved in my life. Service is the biggest was that I live by faith and love those opportunities that allow me to grow, but also to help and love others at the same time.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith, but we do respect him as a prophet of God. God used Joseph Smith as a tool to help reestablish his kingdom on this Earth. Things that Joseph Smith did through the power of God include translating the Book of Mormon, receiving modern day revelation, and he also had to endure much persecution. He was only 14 when he first received a revelation after much prayer and thought that would change the lives of millions of people, and so we are grateful for him and grateful that he allowed God to use him as an instrument so that we can have the truthfulnesss that is contained in the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a great man, that did much for God's cause, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Prophets that were in the Americas wrote the Book of Mormon about the same time that the Bible was being written in the East. They wrote through inspiration given to them by God and the Book of Mormon was written to specifically help us in these days. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

You must study this out for yourself and ask God. For me, it was hard because I had to give up my will and be willing to get an answer from my Heavenly Father and not from myself. Go to Him in earnest prayer on your knees before and after reading the Book of Mormon. Meet with the missionaries who are men and women called of God and can answer your questions. Don't be afraid and learn to grow in faith. Show more Show less
