Hi I'm Yamile

I grew up in Cuba. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a very happy mom. I like what i do for living, which is bookkeeper. I love spending time with my family doing fun activities even during school days!

Why I am a Mormon

I never knew what was a Mormon before until i met a friend that introduced me to the Book of Mormon. He told me of the Restore Gospel of Jesus Christ and that we had a living prophet. I couldn't understand much what he was talking about when he said a living prophet. The only prophets that i knew were from the bible and were from a long time ago. He share his testimony with me about the prophet Joseph Smith and how he actually saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and he was chosen to bring forth and translate an ancient record hidden underground about ancient people in America. He told me that was how the Book of Mormon came forth. He also told me that if i read the Book of Mormon and ask Heavenly Father in prayer if the book was true i would for sure without any doubt receive an answer to my prayer that the book was true. Of course i hesitate first, i was doubting about if this story was true or if it was just a fairytale story, but since the only way i could know if it was true or not would be actually doing what my friend told me to do i said to myseld ok, i have nothing to lose and if its not true i will know for myself. I read the Book of Mormon diligently and i pray about it and continue to read and praying to know if it was true and finally i received the confirmation that it was indee the word of God. Because i knew the Book of Mormon was true i also knew that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. I decided to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and since that day on my life changed in every possible way. Being member of the church has been one of the greatest blessing i have received in my life. I am a better mother, daughter, sister, friend, worker because of it. The Restore Gospel of Jesus Christ has opened my eyes and today i see life with an eternal perspective. Living the Gospel brings happiness, the happiness that can not be achived in this wordly world...It brings eternal happiness.

How I live my faith

The most important thing to me is to center my life and the life of my family around the teachings of our savior Jesus Christ. To make sure i find ways during each day to serve others in any possible way. I love teaching children the Gospel. Every sunday, in church, we get together with the children in Primary meetings and there we sing songs to the Lord and learn about the plan that Heavenly Father has for us.

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

You need to be baptized in orther to be member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When we are baptized we take upon us the name of Jesus Christ and make covenants with our Heavenly Father that we will be witnesses of Christ at all times, in all things and in all places. Jesus was the perfect example of how we should summit to the will of our Father in Heaven when he asked John the Baptist to baptize him. Through the baptism natural men is bury into the water and when you come out the water you are new creature on Christ. Baptism is a covenant that you make with Heavenly Father...that's why Mormon's baptize their new members.  Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

We, Mormons, believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, the messiah, the savior of the world. We believe he was choosen before the fundation of the world to come to the earth and redemm us from the spiritual and physical death that would come upon us after Adam and Eve's fall. So, as we believe in him, follow him, and be more like him we will be able to return to the precense of our Heavenly Father and have Eternal Live. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

For us a testimony means that you know that the things you feel in your heart and mind about the Restore Gospel of Jesus Christ are true. We build our testimonies through obedience, diligence and exactness in keeping the commandments of God. We build our testimonies through prayer, reading the word of God, fasting, service. Our testimony is what keep us away from the temptations of the abversary. Show more Show less
