Hi I'm Heather

I'm a citizen of the world and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an educator who revels in the arts, humanitarianism, museums and libraries. I also find pleasure in soccer, basketball and tennis. I love photography and geography and etymology. I love to draw and sew and create things. I also enjoy immersing myself in other cultures and living abroad. I have spent the majority of my adult life working outside the country, most recently in China. My love of volunteering led me to serve a mission in Central America where I learned the true meaning of charity and drew closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. This experience in Honduras awoke in me to a real desire to serve my fellow man and so I joined the Peace Corps. I am a single thirty-something in a family oriented church, I'm an aunt, I'm a daughter, I'm a friend and I'm a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I am Mormon? This one is easy. I am a Mormon because I love truth and have found it here in the gospel. I am Mormon because there is a latter-day prophet who talks to God and leads this church. I am Mormon because of the principles and practices such as self-sufficiency, hard work, and tithing, that help me become a better person. I am Mormon because it is what the spirit tells me is right.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith the best I can in my everyday life. I come from a small ward and I serve in two capacities, that I really enjoy. First, I serve as a Gospel Essentials Sunday School teacher, helping those new or less familiar with the church learn Gospel principles. Secondly, I work as a teacher in the women's organization.
