Hi I'm Luana

I'm a Latter-Day Saint "Mormon".

About Me

I am the mother of 4 beautiful children ages 17, 16, 15, and 13. Our oldest child is our only daughter. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we live on the island of Maui in beautiful and blessed Hawai'i. Our family is active in our ward. We speak Hawaiian fluently and love to sing and perform. Our kids have a band called Righteous Youth. Most importantly, we enjoy using our talents to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. We feel so blessed to be members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Catholic religion. I went to Catechism, First Holy Communion, and went to church on Sunday. Catholicism was a great religious foundation for me. It instilled in me a strong belief in God and faith. As I got older, I felt like something was missing in my life and I began searching. I went to various churches - Baptist, Hawaiian-Catholic, Jehovah's Witness, and others. I started learning more about the Mormon church through some of my friends. I asked for the missionaries from the church to come over and teach me more. Five months later I was baptized. There were many reasons I decided to get baptized. I had the pleasure of having sister missionaries teach me. I could feel their sweet spirits each time they came to my home. As I was learning, my questions were answered. It seemed that for every question I had the sister missionaries had an answer that made perfect sense! The message that resonated with me the most was the fact that families can be together forever. I love my family and knowing that families were central in the Gospel of Jesus Christ made me want to learn more. I was amazed when the missionaries told me to pray about what I was being taught and find out the truth myself. Wow! I never realized that I could have such a personal relationship with God and I had never been told by any other religion to pray and ask for an answer myself. So, I did, and as I knelt and prayed, I received an answer that this is the true church, even Christ's church. Since then, my testimony of the Gospel has grown and I testify today that God lives, that this is His church, and that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. I also know that Joseph Smith restored the fullness of the Gospel to the earth by the power of God. This is my testimony in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Service is one of the greatest ways to live my faith. Our church provides many opportunities for us to engage in meaningful service. My husband is the Ward Missionary Leader in our church ward. He works along side the full time missionaries, assisting in sharing our faith with others. On Sundays I get to teach a Sunday School class along with him. As a family, we enjoy giving service to others. My 3 sons and can often be found cleaning yards of the elderly, helping with service projects, or just lending a hand where it is needed. They recently spent two Saturdays and one holiday painting our Bishop's house. Our daughter is a great example of service as well and enjoys helping mothers with young children. Through service, we realize how very blessed we are and we learn to not take things for granted.
