Hi I'm Amy

I grew up in Utah. I'm a mom with 7 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom with seven children. I've been married for 23 years. Our first baby died shortly after birth, and the remaining six range in age from 9 to 22. Five of my kids are unschooled. One of those five is Autistic, and another has Fibromyalgia. The oldest, who was also unschooled for the last seven years of school, graduated in December 2010 from college with an A.A.S. degree. She is Deaf, and recently received a call to serve a mission for the church. While we will miss her, we are excited for the opportunity she has to introduce others to the gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, and come from a long line of Mormons. However, I continue to follow the gospel because I believe it is true. I have friends of many faiths, and have not always lived in Utah. While I believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only true and complete church on the earth today, I respect the right of others to believe as they do. I will gladly answer questions about my faith, but I will not stop being a friend just because someone believes differently. And I will not judge others for their beliefs. I believe this is how Christ would have me behave.

How I live my faith

I am disabled, which makes it difficult to attend church meetings regularly, but I attend as much as I can. We study the scriptures together as a family every night, and have a family night every Sunday evening. I try to teach my children the principles of our faith. I try to live as though Christ were standing next to me at all times.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

In a nutshell, the Word of Wisdom is a guideline for healthy living. It asks that we abstain from alcohol, tobacco, tea, and coffee. While abstaining from caffeine is not a specific requirement, many members do avoid drinking caffeinated beverages. We do drink herbal teas or infusions, and hot cocoa. Typically, we eat meat in moderation, and generally try to eat wisely. Show more Show less
