Hi I'm Reed

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my early twenties living in Utah. I go to school here and I am studying Communications in hopes to eventually get an MBA. I want to get involved in Marketing and I am starting a company that will enable me to learn more about my desired field. I enjoy reading, making music on the piano, guitar but mostly singing. Sports are very important to me. I played every sport I could growing up and I thoroughly enjoy being a fan.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the LDS faith. I went to church, youth activities and eventually a mission for the church. All of these experiences helped me to gain a testimony of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I can't say that there was any one moment that turned on the light bulb of faith for me, although there were some experiences that did more for my testimony than others. All of the events that have accumulated as a result of my activity in the church have helped me to know that God has a Son. Jesus Christ is His Son and He has sacrificed everything to help us to return to live with Him. I know of His love just as I know that my parents love me. It is real to me and I am eternally grateful for those in my life that have helped me to reach a point of independent testimony where I do not rely on anyone's faith but my own.

How I live my faith

Within the Mormon church there are many opportunities that I have to demonstrate my faith and dedication. The most outward ways in which I live my faith come in the form of fulfilling certain responsibilities. I am a Home Teacher which means I visit other people in my congregation to help them come closer to God at least once a month. I also am responsible for some of the men in the congregation to help them fulfill their duties. Although these are the most obvious ways I live my faith the ways that help me the most are by performing acts of service. Jesus Christ came to earth to serve all of God's children. He healed and ministered to those who were sick or downtrodden. The ultimate act of service that has ever been performed is what is called the Atonement which is when Jesus paid for our sins and then was crucified so that we might live with God again. I hope that every day I can do something that will magnify the name of Christ.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is volume of holy scripture comparable to the Bible. When I say comparable I do not mean that the Book of Mormon is competing with the Bible but that they are very similar and that they actually complement one another. They go hand in hand because they both teach of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. The Bible is a compilation of books that make up an Old and New Testament witnessing that Jesus is the Christ. The Book of Mormon is also a compilation that makes up another testament of our Redeemer. The Book of Mormon is literally the word of God in the same sense that the Bible is. God loves all of his children and I know that he wanted the people on the American continent, which is where the Book of Mormon was written, to know where to attain salvation which is in and through the Holy One even Jesus Christ.
