Hi I'm Mike Farmer

I'm a father and a husband. I build web sites. I'm a technology geek. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been on a computer since I was eight years old. I'm a mostly self-taught geek learning everything I can about computers. In 2001 I was diagnosed with cancer and after nearly a year of treatment I am cancer free. In 2003 I married the woman of my dreams and have since shared in the birth of our 4 children. Today I am still playing on computers both for fun and for work. I love to play sports such as golf and basketball. I love being in the mountains and enjoy the quiet and peace that I feel there. My main love outside of my family is doing Family History work.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the cleansing power of the atonement of Jesus Christ in my life. I have felt my sins washed away because of Him. That peace and that feeling has carried to other parts of my life. I have felt it as I have taught the words of Jesus. I have felt them as I have studied the life of His prophet Joseph Smith. I have felt it's confirming witness as I've read from the Bible and Book of Mormon. I have felt the power of restored priesthood authority in my life. I have made sacred covenants or promises with God that were performed in the ordinances of the gospel. These ordinances, or ceremonies, such as baptism and the partaking of the sacrament, as instituted by Jesus at the last supper, have blessed my life in very specific and wondrous ways. I have been blessed by the words of modern prophets as well as the prophets of old. The revelation and inspiration they receive has helped me to to live my life in a way that makes me and others around me happy. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have been blessed most of all to serve others. The Church provides opportunity to "lift up the hands that hang down and to strengthen the feeble knees." It provides the avenue for "mourning with those who mourn and strengthen those that stand in need of comfort." Most importantly the teachings of modern-day prophets have taught me how to be a good husband and father. From God's servants, I have learned to teach my children how to live good lives focused on building up and helping others, as Jesus did. These teachings help me to gain the most from my relationships with the people that I love the most. The teachings are true because they come from God. I know through the power of the Holy Ghost that God is real. The atonement of Jesus Christ is real. Joseph Smith saw and spoke with God the Father and His Son! These things I know to be real because God has spoken the truth of these things through the power of His Spirit.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the teachings of Jesus Christ. He is my example. I enjoy studying his words in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I strive to treat others as He treated others -- to uplift, to forgive, and to teach.
