Hi I'm Brendan Scott

I grew up in the Bible Belt. My faith is my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Brendan. I'm 22 years old and currently a junior in college. I spent two years preaching the gospel and teaching people about Christ as a missionary in Northern Japan. When I came home, I met the most amazing, beautiful girl I have ever known. We were married in the Birmingham, Alabama temple in July 2011. I was born in Texas and grew up in Alabama. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon. And yes, that means I'm Christian.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church. However, because I did grow up in the South I've always been part of the severe minority. Almost all of my best friends are Protestant/Evangelical Christians. Through the many discussions on faith and religion I've had with them, I've come to love and respect my good friends' beliefs and deep faith in Christ. I'm sure it would be much easier to fall in with my friends and just be Baptist or Methodist or Lutheran or any one of the other great Christian denominations that dot my hometown. But I can't. Why? Because I have come to know for myself that the fullness of Christ's gospel lies only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. And I simply cannot deny it. How can you know it's true? As much as I would love to, there is no way to prove it. There is no physical or intellectual proof that I can show that will cause you to believe the way I do. But God can give you an answer. I know it, because He has given it to me. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, God gives me an answer every time I read the Book of Mormon. Every time I read the Bible. Every time I pray. Every time I go to church. Every time I choose the right. He gives me an answer. And He will give you one too. If you really want to, you can know too. You can know. I promise.

How I live my faith

My wife and I are building our family on the principles of the gospel. We try to listen for the promptings of the spirit each and every day. We have found that we are happiest when we are focused on living a Christ-like life.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Brendan Scott
Read the Book of Mormon! If you read it with an open heart and a true desire to know that it is actually the word of God then you will know. If you read the Book of Mormon and ask Heavenly Father if it is true, you will know. And once you know that, everything else falls into place. If the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. If Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, then the church that was restored through him is the true church of Jesus Christ. It is as simple as that. Just try it and you will see. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Brendan Scott
YES! There is no question, we believe the Bible to be the word of God. Every Mormon every where believes in the Bible. However, I do not believe the word of our infinite God is limited to one book of scripture. He is infinite and eternal and His words never cease. We need Him now just as much as they needed Him in the past. He still speaks to us today through His living prophets just as He has since the beginning of time. So yes the Bible is the word of God - but it is not the ONLY word of God. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Brendan Scott
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind, the creator of the world. Through Him, and ONLY through Him, can mankind be saved in the kingdom of God. Jesus Christ is our Redeemer, our Lord, and our Savior. In every real and true meaning of the word, we are Christian. Show more Show less
