Hi I'm Marc

I'm a family man, media analyst and a baseball fan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised on three continents as we moved often with my Dad being an Air Force pilot. I was born in France and attended middle school on an air base in Japan. When my parents finally settled down early in my high school years, I was ready to put down roots. I wanted to be able to answer the simple question, “Where are you from?” I now call suburban Utah my home. I have been blessed with a wonderful wife and together we have three married children & five grandchildren who brighten our days. I tend to be analytical, perhaps to a fault. I even analyze my analysis. In my profession I apply those skills to the marketing communications world. I have been privileged to be a part of the team charged with finding the best way to communicate the truths of the gospel to the world. And although I’m approaching 30 years since I graduated from college, in many ways I feel like I’m starting over in my career because of the way the internet and technology has dramatically changed communications. The transition has been challenging but exciting. I enjoy team sports although my playing days are over. I’m particularly drawn to baseball with its lengthy and storied history and its wealth of statistics that begs for analysis.

Why I am a Mormon

Here is where analysis fails me in that I can’t point to a proof or a decision matrix for support. My faith is founded mostly in feelings. I have repeatedly found feelings of peace, joy and comfort as I’ve tried to follow the teachings of Christ as taught in His restored Church. I can also say I have felt the absence of those feelings when I have strayed from those teachings. It is my testimony that those feelings are from the Holy Ghost who testifies of truth. Some would have you believe that observing a religion is only about improving your lot in the hereafter. I certainly believe that but for me I have found the most happiness here and now by practicing the teaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Hopefully the best expression of my faith is following Christian principles towards God and others. I also serve in our local church organization teaching an adult Sunday School class.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Missionaries or their families finance the cost of missions. Those planning on serving are encouraged to earn and save money themselves. In rare cases, where the cost of a mission would be a hardship to a prospective missionary or the family, they may be funded by their local congregations or the general Church missionary fund. Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

To His apostles of old Christ said, “Go ye unto all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” thereby beginning missionary work. We feel that same obligation today but hopefully it’s mostly motivated by a love for our fellowman and a desire to share what has made us happy. You may be surprised to know that we realize what a sensitive topic religion is for most and how objectionable it is for many nowadays to have the gospel peddled door-to-door like vacuums and soap. We’re trying hard to find more acceptable alternatives. That’s the motivation behind this web site. Show more Show less
