Hi I'm Lauren

I'm an IT geek by day, a soccer player by night and a Mormon always.

About Me

I'm an English major who now works as a Business Analyst. Makes sense, right? What would you do with an English degree? Perhaps one day I'll write my book. Until then, I can type up emails very quickly without spelling errors! I also love to spend time playing soccer, going to the gym, and spending time with friends from my singles ward and with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the faith, but have had several poignant experiences in my life where I had to know for myself that following this faith was MY decision. They both occurred while I was in college, struggling with doubts about myself and about where I can find peace in a difficult world. I sought after that peace in relationships, from friends, from music, from writing stories, but it just wasn't coming until a friend suggested that I spend some time reading about a story found in the Book of Mormon where God lightened the burdens upon the backs of a people that were in bondage. That is what I needed: somebody to lighten my burden. I didn't receive a miracle where my challenges instantly became easy. Instead, I was given peace and the strength to work through my challenges. How else could I have become stronger and able to then help others with their challenges? If it wasn't for the struggles I have overcome and for the strength I received from Jesus Christ as my Savior, I wouldn't be as happy and loving as I am today. If I didn't know the dark, I wouldn't realize how beautiful the light is and I hope I can help others to find their light as well.

How I live my faith

I'm trying to do better with my visiting teaching, especially since I'm currently serving in my young single adult ward's women's organization, but it's a great opportunity to help out other sisters and expand my circle of friends. I love that I am a member of the largest women's organization in the world: the Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (with over 6 million members worldwide)! I also try to live my faith every day by dressing modestly, using clean language, never having drugs or alcohol, carefully choosing what I read, listen to and watch, and just being a happy person.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Mormons believe that our weddings, which take place in our temples, are eternal because they are sealed for time and all eternity by priesthood authority. These ceremonies are sacred and therefore, only members of the church who have made covenants in the temple can attend the ceremony. The ceremonies are beautiful and simple with symbols representing eternity and the husband and wife promising to love each other and live righteous lives together. Show more Show less
