Hi I'm Brian

I'm a graduate student studying broadcast journalism and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I have a bachelor’s degree in Communication. I am getting a master’s degree in Journalism. My wife and I have a beautiful baby girl. I like staying up-to-date with technology, and spending time with my family. I enjoy film, photography, editing, and storytelling. When I am done with my master’s degree I will be a reporter for TV.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been immensely blessed for being a member of Jesus Christ’s church! Because I am a member of Christ’s church I know that God loves me, and that He has a plan for me. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that He died for me and you. I am so grateful that God sends prophets to earth to guide us and help us avoid the pitfalls of Satan. I know that the Bible is the word of God. It is such a powerful book! I also have a testimony that The Book of Mormon is God’s word. I have learned so much about God from each. I know that God has a prophet today, just like he did in ancient times, and testify that Jesus Christ restored his church through a prophet named Joseph Smith.

How I live my faith

My faith in Jesus Christ affects all aspects of my life, it doesn't just mean that I go to church on Sunday. As I go about each day I always try to remember Jesus Christ and interact with people the way He would want me to. I try and help others as much as I can. My faith in Jesus Christ makes me want to be the best husband and father I can possibly be. Each Monday night every family in the church sets aside time for a family night. We call this a family home evening. This gives my family the opportunity to coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and renew our faith in God. Throughout each week both together and as a family we read God’s word and pray.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No one is required to serve missions for the church. It is completely voluntary, and both men and women are equally invited to serve as missionaries. Missionaries are not paid, but rather have to support themselves during their service. Men serve for a period of 24 months and women serve for 18. Older couples serve for 24-36 months. I served a mission right after I graduated from high school. I was assigned to serve in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, Central America. I can honestly say that it was not easy, but I learned so much and was so happy to help people come unto Christ. At the time I started, many of my friends were going off to college. I was very excited to serve, but part of me thought, that they would “get ahead" since they were starting school before I was. However that has not been the case. I have been generously blessed by God for my service to him. I had an AMAZING experience that most of my friends didn't have. I grew a close to God in a way that can not be obtained any other way. Not only that, but I also ended up graduating before many of my friends. While I was in Guatemala I also learned to speak Spanish fluently and that has greatly blessed my life and given my many opportunities I would not have had. I gave a lot my serving a mission, but God blesses those who serve Him. I know that that is true and encourage everyone I can to serve a mission!!! Show more Show less
