Hi I'm Brandon

I'm a husband, a father, a radiologist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Husband and father with one year old boy.

Why I am a Mormon

To me, being a Mormon is one of the best things about me. My membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has completely changed my life for the better. It adds so much depth and value to my life. I feel strongly that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the actual, officially-restored church of the Savior Jesus Christ, complete with a prophet and twelve apostles as in biblical times. I am so grateful that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I cannot honestly say enough positive things about this Church. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints improves my life immeasurably. The knowledge that I have of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ gained primarily through being a "Mormon" helps me infinitely every day to be more like the person I should be. My membership in this Church is such a great blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

Hopefully trying the best I can.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe that He is our Savior, Redeemer, Creator, and King. He is the chief cornerstone of our Church. Our belief in Christ is evidenced by the name our our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Our belief in Jesus Christ is essential to our faith. Show more Show less

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

I love this question. No member of our church receives money for the work we do. One of our local church leaders jokingly called his "pay" the "high salary" or "high dollar" (signifying that the payment for service is not counted in monetary gain but in blessings waiting up high in Heaven for us). And because no leader/teacher/minister/missionary in our church receives monetry gain for the services that they provide, all the money goes towards things like books, buildings, electricity, and people in need. All the members have separate jobs to provide income, and give of their time to church service voluntarily. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Well I can say my wife is awesome. I love this quote which stated that the role of mother was the greatest responsibility and honor. I feel that being a Mormon has enhanced my appreciation of the equality of men and women. Show more Show less

Are there restrictions based on race or color concerning who can join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and have the priesthood?

Absolutely not. We know that God loves all His children immensely. We know that He is all-knowing and judges us according to our efforts to do His will and the intentions of our hearts, and not on our physical features. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

President Thomas S. Monson. He is awesome. He is probably the nicest person I know on earth or at least one of the few. I am so glad he is our prophet. Show more Show less

Who are the Mormons?

The "Mormons" are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We, as members of this church, believe that the literal Church of Jesus Christ has been restored again upon the earth by a modern day prophet who was called of God as in biblical times. This prophet, Joseph Smith, after being visited by God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, was also visited by an angel who directed him to finding and bringing forth a book of scripture that was buried in the ground by ancient prophets in the American continent, which book is another testament of Jesus Christ. This book, the Book of Mormon, consisted of a set of scriptures written on golden plates which were compiled anciently by a prophet Mormon, for whom the book is named. Because of our acceptance of this book as a book of scripture comparable to the Bible, members of our church were given the nickname "Mormons". Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Hopefully this doesn't sound like I am talking down, but I honestly believe that if you look thoroughly into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you WILL find out that it is true. I feel personally like I know without a doubt/have been blessed with knowledge by a loving Heavenly Father, to know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I believe that because we have a loving Heavenly Father and He desires to bless us, if a person looks sincerely and deeply into The Church, our loving Heavenly Father will bless that person with knowledge by way of The Holy Spirit, most often through feelings of love. My suggestion would be to go to one of our church meetings, speak with missionaries, read from the Book of Mormon, pray to ask God if The Book of Mormon is true, ponder, reflect, think, look, just overall try to find out and I believe that you will find the truth. I hope sincerely that you continue to look, and I know that miracles await you if you do. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Great! Although obviously there are always difficulties and challenges, I believe being a Mormon gives me strength, direction, and sustenance to meet daily and long term needs. It also allows me to have a more positive outlook on life, people, and the world. I believe it includes extra work and effort which is infinitely paid off. One of the biggest differences to me is less wondering about why I am here, where I am going, and what I need to be doing which is replaced with more knowledge and confidence in my answers. I believe it makes me more desirous to be social and interact with people. It gives me something that I feel is part of me but greater than myself and something that I feel that I have to be able to share with the world to its benefit. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

I believe it is so that money from member that is donated, called by us, tithes and offerings, can go directly to where it is most needed such as toward those in more dire need, directly toward building finances, and to those in the world who have recently been victims of natural disasters as an example. I also believes it helps build up the members of The Church. It allows us to both have more knowledge in a career field while allowing us the blessing of being able to do much needed Church service. I am so grateful for this and count it as a great asset to The Church and something that separates us from other churches and leads one to see the truthfulness of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
