Hi I'm Michael

I'm witty, funny, lazy, sarcastic and an overall good guy.

About Me

I enjoy spending my time on the computer, reading and watching TV. I enjoy Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, House M.D., The Big Bang Theory, Sherlock and almost anything to do with superheroes. Dr. Pepper is my favorite drink, there's nothing quite like it. I'm also pretty much a know-it-all, or at least I like to think I am... and people hate that. I have a few good friends that I like to spend time with, they, along with my family, mean the most to me. I aspire to become a writer. I have a few great ideas for movies, TV shows, books and comics but my writing ability is lousy; they're just ideas and visions in my imagination. Because of that, I'm told I would make for an exceptional director. I hope to work on becoming one someday. Politics, law and doing random research are hobbies of mine and I'm passionate about learning as much information as I can. I like to play video games; mostly sports, first-person shooters and strategy type. I also collect coins and paper money, especially older and foreign (non-U.S.) currency. That's pretty much me in a nutshell.

Why I am a Mormon

It makes sense. And that's the complicated answer. I grew up going to Baptist churches and I have been to Lutheran churches, a Wesleyan church and a Kingdom Hall, but I keep coming back to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I feel the most at home, and the members are kind and caring; we're like a big family. I feel like a charity case, but as one member told me, "If you weren't, I wouldn't be able to give charity."

How I live my faith

I help the local missionaries by traveling to appointments with them; I talk to my friends about what I believe and many if not all of them are supportive. I also read my scriptures when I remember to and go to church when I can. I may not be perfect, but at least I make an effort.

Why don’t Mormons have paid clergy?

Moses, Isaiah, Jesus and other prophets of old never got paid to do the work of God, so we believe it's our duty to do the same.  Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

The simple answer is because they don't understand it. I admit, it's pretty radical, but it's something you have to really learn about to develop a positive attitude towards it.  The basic beliefs of the church require giving up what is displeasing to God, such as coffee and tobacco, which a lot of people find offensive. But in all actuality, the very definition of the word makes all faiths 'cults.' Show more Show less
