Hi I'm Emily

I live in California. I am a stay-at-home mom of four children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to cook, but even more I love to bake. I love to decorate cakes. I love traveling and especially with my husband and children so they can learn and experience what beauty is in this world. I have a bachelor's degree in English. I love music and enjoy any time I get to play the piano and/or sing.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born into the church. But the reason I continue to live the religion isn't all because I was raised that way, but because I have chosen to. My faith has been challenged through different life experiences and I have found it a lot easier to lean on my Heavenly Father, His Son and the words of the ancient and latter-day prophets, than to lean on my own knowledge and understanding. I am grateful for how my parents raised me and I look to those teachings often as I try and teach my own children the love our Heavenly Father has for us. I feel this love often and I know everyone can, if they seek it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example to those around us and teaching my children to do the same. We live in a neighborhood filled with lots of children. I try to invite those children to interact with mine, so they can see the happiness that we feel through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

The restoration of the gospel is absolutely necessary. The Bible teaches us so many wonderful things, but throughout time, many things have been removed from the Bible and much has been lost. The Book of Mormon and modern-day prophets have revealed even more things necessary for our preparation to meet God and Jesus Christ. These revelations do not replace the Bible, but work together with the Bible to clarify what God intends for us. Just as each book in the Bible works together, the Bible and The Book of Mormon are companions in teaching us the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Absolutely not. We worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ only. We believe Joseph Smith to be a prophet of God. We believe he received many great and important revelations from God just as the prophets of ancient times. Just as Moses was chosen to be a leader of God's people and to lead them out of hardship and turmoil, Joseph Smith was chosen to be a prophet to God's people in our time. He faced many trials and hardships in his lifetime and we see him as a man God chose to be a prophet of God. I am thankful for the prophets of old as well as those who now lead us. Prophets play an important role in helping us to know God's will, so we can return to live with Him. Show more Show less
