Hi I'm Sara

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am attending college to become a teacher. When I finish, I will teach fourth grade and be involved in coaching high school girls' basketball. I have three sisters and three brothers and consider them my best friends. I love being with them or communicating with them somehow. I like cycling, laughing and learning.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both Mormon. They raised my siblings and me in an environment founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ. As a small girl, one morning I woke up very early and couldn't get back to sleep. I remember going to the kitchen and as I headed downstairs, I saw my mom reading the Book of Mormon. My young mind couldn't fathom why she would intentionally be up that early. That day I realized reading the scriptures gave my mom the jump start to her day she needed for herself and to raise her seven children. She gained strength from this sacred book. I also have a memory of my dad often encouraging us to ask questions. I appreciated that he didn't expect me to believe what he believes. My parents cultivated a religious learning environment by having family prayer and scripture study. They encouraged me in my pursuits to gain a personal conviction of the gospel. I had a desire and took time to pray and read the scriptures. I have since taken honest inquiries to God about the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith. I received answers to those prayers usually in form of an optimistic, peaceful feeling.

How I live my faith

One part of this religion that really helps me is my opportunity to teach women at church once a month. Because I look forward to teaching in public school, this is an opportunity to improve my teaching ability and understand more about Jesus Christ and His gospel.
