Hi I'm Ashley

I love to be with my friends and family, and teaching little children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to read, go for walks or road trips with my husband, and spend time with my family and friends. I also like to learn about people’s lives, and different places. My husband and I just finished studying at the university and are now enjoying life after school. I studied speech and language pathology and I used to worked with elementary age children. I love teaching children!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has taught me who I am. I know that I am a daughter of God. I know that He loves me. I feel His love every time I read the scriptures, or go to church, or the temple. Life is too hard to live alone. I need the peace that I feel when I go to church, and live the commandments. I am also a Mormon, because I want the blessings of the temple in my life. Because of the temple, I know that I will be with my husband and family forever. I love them, and I never want to lose them!

How I live my faith

At church, I teach a class of 3 and 4 year olds. My class loves to sing songs, play games, act out stories, and color pictures. They are usually pretty wiggly, but when I tell them a story about Jesus, they will quiet down and listen. They love to hear stories about Jesus. They are also eager to have a turn to say the prayer. They know they are talking to a Heavenly Father who loves them.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women are like other women in many ways. We love our families, participate in hobbies and activities that we enjoy, hang out with our friends, spend time serving others, and try to find enough time in the day to get everything we need to do done. Many of us are in school, or have jobs. Many of us stay at home and raise children. Some of us are married. Some of us are single. We are really just trying to follow Jesus Christ. Although the world may tell you that a woman’s worth is in her physical appearance, we know that we are daughters of God and that our worth is eternal. We believe that men and women are all children of Heavenly Father and that He loves us all equally. He sent men and women to earth with different talents and strengths, and both are needed in our families. My husband is really good at some things and I am good at others. I'm glad he has his strengths and I have mine. Show more Show less

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The gift of the Holy Ghost has helped me so much in my life! When I am sad or afraid, I pray to Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost brings peace to my heart. He also warns me of danger that may be coming so I can prepare for it or avoid it, and helps me make good choices. He enlightens my mind so I can understand things that are true. I think that one of the biggest things he has helped me with is to gain faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know they live and love me because the Holy Ghost has helped me to feel this in my heart. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Those are just the names for our congregations. A ward or branch is the group of people you see every Sunday. Branches are usually smaller than wards. A stake is several of those that you meet with a couple times a year. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement is what makes it possible for us to return to live with Heavenly Father someday. None of us is perfect, and because Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins, we can repent and be forgiven. After Jesus Christ sacrificed His life, He was resurrected which means that we can be resurrected someday too. Without the Atonement, we would not have been able to conquer sin or death. But He lives today, and because of the Atonement, we have the chance to live with Heavenly Father forever too. Show more Show less
