Hi I'm John Pack Lambert

I grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan. I am a masters student in history at Eastern Michigan Univeristy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Warren, Michigan which is a northern suburb of Detroit. I have lived in Michigan my entire life except when I attended Brigham Young University (BYU) and while serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Nevada. I am working on a masters in history at Eastern Michigan University. I like dancing, especially ballroom and wing, although I am only marginally good at these. I love singing religious songs, and motivational stirring songs. I have studied Spanish a lot, although since I came back from BYU have had far too few chances to use it.

Why I am a Mormon

The key reason why I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because I have felt the spirit witness to me that this is the True Church. I can say that the Holy Ghost has revealed to me that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I have also on many occasions felt a witness that the current, living prophets and apostles are called of God. Most importantly I know that Thomas S. Monson is the man the Lord has raised up to lead forward the word of the Church in this time.

How I live my faith

Currently I have two main positions in the Church. In one I assist a leader of one of the organizations in our local congregation in organizing the religious instuction of members especially on at the level of what specific things need to be done to help these individuals better embrace the gospel. The other position I currently do is assisting in the local Family History Center. Most of the people who come in to use the Family History Center are not members of the Church. They are people who want to learn more of their ancestors, and are eager for help. Often the resources we help these people with, sich as familysearch.org , especially the digitized and to some extent indexed records connected with this site, are free and the people could access them anywhere they have internet access. However many people do not know of these resources. Even of those who do we often have the chance to help them understand the processes they need to go through to have searches that return successful results.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

John Pack Lambert
We need a Savior because we all sin. This seems a harsh statement to some, but it is true. One reason it seems harsh is that at times people think of sin as only great offenses. However getting angry at another and loosing our temper is a sin. Gossiping is a sin. Jesus even told us that saying to our brother "thou fool" is a sin. There was one prophet who said it was not possible to tell us every way we could sin. Since we all sin, and no sinful, unclean being can be in God's presence we had a probelm. This was more true because God wants us to be with him. There needed to be one who would pay the price for our sins, and make it possible for us to become free of them. The one who did this was Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
