Hi I'm Shelly

I am a wife and a stay at home mom to five wonderful kids. I love to water ski, and create memories with my family. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a mother of (soon to be) five children. I have two girls 7 and 5 and a two boys 4 and 18 months and another girl the way! I have been very blessed to be a part of a very loving family. Family has always been my most important treasure. I love to scrapbook memories of my family and work on my family history and spend as much time as possible with my family. My perspective on life changed when my mother passed away eight years ago. It encouraged me to give my children the kind of childhood my mother gave to me. It helped me to cherish my own family and be a better wife and mother to them. I am grateful for my family heritage and my wonderful husband and five children and the knowledge I have learned how families can be together forever.

Why I am a Mormon

As the gospel is explained to me, it just makes sense. When I find things that make me happy I want to share this with my children so they can discover the same happiness I have found. I know our Heavenly Father has found true happiness by becoming who He is. He wants to share this happiness with His children and has provided a way for them to become like Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. I have found that I am happiest when I am living my life in service, living my life more virtuously, and becoming more like the Savior. I have found tremendous joy through the gift of repentance. To be able to repent of things I am not proud of and to feel the atonement work in my life has brought the greatest happiness in my life. I no longer feel the burdens of guilt and I feel completely clean. This is the greatest gift I have been given and for this I am grateful. I know that if I continue to strive to become more like our Heavenly Father and if my children and each of us strive to do the same and use the atonement daily by repenting daily in our lives, we will be able to live with our Heavenly Father and with our families again and for all eternity, giving us each of the gift of eternal life.

How I live my faith

Faith for me comes as I study and pray about the scriptures and try to live them daily. Faith is action. I also find deeper faith as I serve our Heavenly Father by building his kingdom by visiting others and helping Him by teaching my own children and other children ages 3-12 about our Heavenly Father's loving plan for each of us. Twice a month I love to help girls (ages 8-12) learn basic skills that will help prepare them to be the best daughters and future mother's that they can be in their homes. This service brings me lots of happiness and joy.

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Shelly
God created the earth so that each of us can have the opportunity to become like our Heavenly Father. To become like Him we had to come to earth to receive a body, die, and become resurrected, becoming immortal like Him. We also had to learn how to become perfect like our Savior, Jesus Christ. The scriptures and prophets teach the basic principles of the gospel and essential ordinances we need to make with our Father in Heaven to help us become like Him. Through the gift of the Savior's atoning sacrafice, each of us can become cleansed from our sins and become through Him. Through the Savior's atonement, He has made it possible for each of us to recieve exaltation and eternal life. To become like God and live with Him and our families forever. Having this knowledge is a blessing to me and helps me live each day with a purpose in life, to live more and more like our Savior and teach my children of His teachings so that each of us can live with our Father in Heaven and each other forever.
