Hi I'm John Arroyos

I believe in Jesus Christ - I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm in my mid fifties, married, 3 children, 4 grandchildren. I am a draftsman. My wife and I enjoy square dancing. I am involved with CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). And I love to ride my bike any chance I get.

Why I am a Mormon

I was, as we say, born in the Church. The sixth generation. As such I was baptized when I turned 8 years old. I am amazed that an 8 year old can make such a comitment, yet I can't count the number of times through out my life when faced with temptation and challenges I have said to myself "You made your choice when you were baptized, didn't you? Don't you think you should honor it?" Why do I choose to stay a Mormon - because God does answer my prayers (in particular - are you there God?), the Holy Ghost does testify of truthes, I can see God's hand in the workings of the Church, and because God's blessings and tender mercies are abondant and everywhere.

How I live my faith

I, like most members, serve in the church. Currently I serve in the Bishopric, the Bishopric oversees the running of a Ward (a congregation). I'm always amazed how things work out, the Lord is very much in charge. Yet, I, like most members, recieve strength from my personal observance, those things that make me feel close to God - that make me feel He is close. Those things include trying to obey the commandments, serving others, prayer, scripture study, Temple attendance, meditation and fasting.

What is the Law of Chastity?

John Arroyos
It is a law of sexual purity. It teaches us to keep our sexual relationships within the bounds the Lord has set. Simply stated it is total abstanance before marriage & and total fidility in marriage. Because we believe that families are forever - we know that eternal marriage can only be between a man and a woman and we know that we must prepare for and nuture the marriage covenant. We know that we must bind our families to us with love, understanding, devotion and loyalty. Show more Show less
