Hi I'm Michael

I'm a missionary for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm currently serving in the Pennsylvania Pittsburgh Mission in the United States of America. I love what I do and I love Jesus the Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Cause it's awesome! The Gospel encourages people to be the best people that they can be. It promotes families, good citizenship, being a good neighbor, love, kindness, and happiness. Sure, it doesn't make life perfect, or resolve every single problem that you will ever face in your entire mortal existence; but it shows us the way to find help, to find strength, to find comfort, to get the answers that we are looking for, and to build a relationship with a loving Heavenly Father and His Son who was sent as our Redeemer. The realization that the Gospel is the way to live wasn't something that just hit me overnight. Not even in the course of a week, or a month, not even really a year. I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My parents were members, their parents were members, and I think that their parents were even members. It kind of runs in the family. However, just because I grew up in it, doesn't mean that I was really in it. In fact, I don't think I was. Sure, I was at church on Sunday going through the motions, but it didn't mean anything to me. As I went throughout high school, I saw a bunch of my friends doing things that didn't have any meaning to them and I always thought, "Why would you do something that means nothing to you?" Little did I know that I was doing the same thing. What really got me was that I made a friend. Not just any friend. A best friend. The best friend. She was awesome. She, unlike me, didn't grow up as a member of the church. She was a convert. She's what really got me to think about why someone would join the church. If someone so important to me would change so drastically for something like the church, there had to be something more to what I thought didn't have much meaning. So, like any normal teenager, I put it to the test. I read the Book of Mormon. I really focussed in church. I really tried myself and my understanding of the things that I grew up learning. I still do. It is a constant test, a constant trial. From that point, in my senior year of high school, I have continued to strengthen my resolve to follow my Savior. This is His restored Gospel. He has revealed that to me by the power of the Holy Ghost. It's the right thing to do. He wants me to follow Him. Why wouldn't I? That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Well, I guess the biggest thing is that I'm a missionary. One of those guys in the white shirt and tie, with a name tag. Yep, I'm one of them. That's a pretty big way that I live my faith. My job is to teach others about the faith that I have. To share with them the things that have blessed my life by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There may be over 52,000 of us missionaries out there, but that is a small percentage compared to the 13,000,000+ members of the Church. So for them, they aren't living to the same day to day regimen that I have. Normally, missionaries wake up at 6:30 a.m. We excercise, eat, study the scriptures on our own and with our companions, and then by 10:00 a.m. we're out the door sharing the message of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. We then get back in by 9:00 p.m. and plan for the coming day. We do this for 18 months, or two years. It's really quite fun. Our Savior, Jesus the Christ, spent his entire life serving, teaching, healing, and doing the will of His Father. I can show my faith in Him and my willingness to follow Him by devoting two years of my life to do nothing but teach about Him. That's a small price to pay for the blessings He has given me. I live my faith by spending two years of my life completely devoted to teaching of my Savior. No dating, no t.v., no facebook, no radio, no ipod, none of that stuff. Just teaching about the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am having the best time of my life doing it.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

Have you ever layed out in the middle of no where, late at night, staring up at the sky? I have. It's fun. There's no light pollution, no honking horns, no screaming people, just you and the Milky Way. Isn't it amazing? One little speck of light out in the big blue-ish, grey-ish, black thing could be an entirely different galaxy, millions of light-years away. That's phenominal. I feel so small. I can't help but wonder if there is something bigger out there. As I think of all that our world contains, our galaxy contains, our universe contains, I just can't help but feel that there is a God out there. Once, I come to that thought, I feel good. I simply just feel like that is right. There is a God. He knows me. I may be small in the sight of universes, but God knows me. He loves me. What a great thought! Show more Show less
