Hi I'm Devin

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About Me

I'm the father of 2 boys and have been married for 24 years. I enjoy life and love spending it outdoors camping, swimming, and cycling. I work in State Government in the field of IT Management. Scouting has been a big part of my life and I continue to help our local scout troop sponsored by the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 5th Generation Mormon on my fathers side. I was raised in the church by loving parents that wanted the best for me. My mother is a convert to the church and loves the gospel and wanted the best for her children. Shortly before I went on a mission for the church I reached a point that I needed to know if this church was for me, or was I just going for my parents. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, I was prompted by the spirit that I knew it to be true, ever since that point I have never looked back, never doubted. I served a mission, was married in the temple, and have watched my own family grow. I am glad that I am a member, it gives me peace, it gives me comfort, it gives me guidance.

How I live my faith

I have always been involved in the youth groups in many of my church callings. Scouting has always been my favorite because of what you get out of it. My youth and scout leaders did so much for me growing up that I am just trying to give back. I appreciate the values that the church teaches our youth, including my sons. This will help them to be a good citizen, family, father, and friend.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

I've always wondered why this is a question that people ask. I guess it's because we talk of him so much. But it is not out of worship, more of appreciation for what he has done for us. But know this, everything that Joseph Smith has done, points to our Savior Jesus Christ. It is not the church of Joseph Smith, it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If there is anyone that we worship it is Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

We are tithed just like many churches today. In the old testemant we read in Malichi about giving to the lord and how he will pour out a blessing, a blessing so large that we will not be able to receive it all. I pay tithing because I have been asked by a prophet and so I do. But I also pay tithing because I have been told that I will be blessed for doing it. I can tell you that many times in my life I have been blessed. I have a good family, a good job, a good home, good health, and more. These are truly blessing from my Heavenly Father because I keep his commandments. Show more Show less
