Hi I'm Mike

I love coral reefs. I am a future scuba diver. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

The family is the most important part of my life, so I will start with that. I have two daughters. While they keep me busy, they are the joy of my life. My wife and I have been married for fiver years, and we are still in love with each other. I am also a graduate student studying public policy. I am hoping to work in coral reef conservation. I enjoy writing, volleyball, and reading, and I am hoping to become scuba licensed within a year.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. but it wasn't until my late teens that I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I felt a confirming witness through the Holy Ghost that this is his church, the Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, the Book of Mormon is his word, and that we have a prophet on the earth today. I continue to be active in the church because of the peace I feel being a member of this church. I have felt this indescribable peace in both good and bad times. I also have seen many small miracles through the power of prayer. Some of these miracles are just answers to my prayers. I find it amazing that we can speak with an all wise and powerful God, our Heavenly Father. I feel more than ever that I am closer to my Savior Jesus Christ than I ever have been, which confirms to me today that I am following his path.

How I live my faith

I feel I live my faith best through service. Every month I visit four families to make sure that everything is okay in their life. Along with these visits, I set up appointments for the leader of the local congregation. However, faith would not be faith if I only served those I knew and loved. Christ was the best example of going to those who needed him, not those who knew him and liked him. I try to do soup kitchen service once or twice a year. I also carry non-perishable food items to give to those who don't have food. Matthew 25:35-40 sums it up best when Christ said: 35-For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36-Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37-Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38-When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39-Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40-And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
