Hi I'm Christopher

I love playing & watching sports! I work as a Sales Manager, have a beautiful family, and by the way I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the oldest of 4 children. I have a brother who has special needs. He is developmentally delayed and Autistic and although caring for him is not easy he is a true angel. My dad passed away of Cancer when he was only 49 years old. It has been tough on our family but we have also grown closer in many ways. My dad, brother, and I loved playing basketball together, in fact we played in a city basketball league up until 6 months before he passed away. The Gospel of Jesus Christ comforts me and I am so grateful for the Savior's words found in the scriptures and the role of the Holy Ghost as the Comforter!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for many reasons. The most fundamental of those reasons is because I want to follow Jesus Christ and I believe that being a faithful member in His church is one way I show that commitment. I am a member also because I want to be with my family forever. Throughout my life there have been different reasons why I have been grateful to be a member but in the end it all comes down to faith. I strongly believe that Jesus Christ's church was destroyed after his death. I also believe that it was brought back through a chosen prophet, Joseph Smith. I know this is Christ's true church and that I can return to live with God and His son by following the principles taught within His church.

How I live my faith

I made decisions when I was younger not to do certain things that were "normal". I chose not to drink alcohol, smoke, or have sex before getting married. I made these decisions and stuck with them. I am now married and sealed in the Temple for eternity with my wife and I could not be more grateful that both her and I took our commitments seriously. On a daily basis I try to be honest. I figure that if I am honest and sincere then people will respect me and if they respect me I can have a greater impact for good while here on earth.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No. We admire Joseph Smith and consider him a prophet of God and follow his teachings as we do with Moses and other prophets of old. The thing that makes Joseph Smith unique amongst prophets is that he helped to bring the Church of Jesus Christ back to the earth after a period of darkness which is known as the Great Apostacy. Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

The question of tithing has been in debate for centuries with different religious sects but through modern revelation we are told to donate 10% of our increase (earnings). We are asked because put simply God desires that all his children participate in this practice, but it is through the Church that we have a formal way of doing it. This money is used to build churches, temples, and helps subsidize education through BYU & other private LDS schools. I am currently serving as the ward financial clerk and so I see the tithing every Sunday and I watch as it is deposited, transferred, and collected. In fact there are always two of us Priesthood holders with the money at one time and frequent audits to ensure the money is being handled properly. I have a great respect for the Law of tithing and the blessings it not only brings to the church but to us as individuals who participate. I have personally been blessed in many ways due to the fact that I was living this law, I will never stop living this law, to be frank, I would be afraid to miss out on the blessings!
