Hi I'm Melissa

About Me

A jack of all trades might be a fitting description. I went to school for painting and drawing, but that's not my only focus. I'm a creative woman who likes to sew, photograph, paint, draw, design, silkscreen, cook & bookbind!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, but didn't really and truly believe in God and that this was the right church for me until I was 12. That year I had a difficult year full of frustration & anxiety towards family, school and lack of friends. I had a hard time believing that there was a God. If there was, why did he ignore me? I wanted to die. When I was at my lowest, I sat by the peach tree in my parent's backyard thinking about how crappy my life was when I started to feel like I wasn't alone. This small feeling that God did love me crept into my heart and has grown since. When I attend church & worship I feel peace and love from God; that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I teach a sunday school class of the most adorable and precocious four year olds! They definitely keep me on my toes. I also visit a couple of women in our congregation & serve them when possible.

What is the Relief Society?

The Relief Society is a group of women (18+) gathered together to serve, learn of Christ and to help buoy each other up. The Relief Society is a tight knit community! I love being part of it. When my husband and I moved to California, we didn't have a single friend/family connection to the area. We were so lost! The sisters in the Relief Society helped us find an apartment, dentists, doctors, grocery stores and even helped us unpack the boxes! I was all alone in our new neighborhood, but the kind women in Relief Society befriended me & helped me become engaged in the community very quickly. It was a beautiful blessing. Show more Show less

Why do Mormons believe in the Bible?

The Bible (Old and New Testament) testify of Christ. We believe in Christ, therefore we believe in the books testifying of Christ; mainly the Old Testament, the New Testament and the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
