Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm Joshua. I am the youngest of eight children. I enjoy playing the guitar, I play it often. Along with that I really love music. I enjoy just about any kind of music, from The Beetles to Beethoven and everything in between. I have performed in many musical groups, mostly A Capella groups. I started my own group in High School, our name was Eight Track. We performed at a local and state level. I enjoyed that a lot. I enjoy drawing as well, mostly cartoons, but I like most forms of art. I have been published before in local newspapers and have had my work bought by an international magazine. I am single. I am a student. I plan on getting a degree in Industrial Design, or Graphic Design. I have grown up in city areas as well as farm areas near the mountains, I prefer the latter. I enjoy camping, skiing, and just enjoying being outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many many reasons for why I am a Mormon. One of them being that I love my family, and there are many opportunities in this church that strengthen my family, such as: daily prayer and scripture study as a family, a night together as a family doing activities and learning Christ's gospel every Monday night, attending church as a family and the programs they have for the youth and children, being sealed together as a family for eternity in God's holy temples. I feel God's love when I read in the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon, so I know that those feelings have led me to this church. It has meant everything to me to be a member of this church, to live Christ's teachings and I know that He lives. His spirit is ever so present in my life because of this church. I became a member of this church as a child of eight years. When I was fifteen, I was reading through the Book of Mormon and had an experience that is so important to me. All I can say about it is that I felt feelings of such power that I could not deny the truth of what I was reading, they were feelings of great love and assurance.

How I live my faith

Much of my life I have been involved in programs at church. I have been a scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America. I have served as a leader in my teenage years to the young men in my area. I currently serve as a young single adult representative to the other young singles in my area, as well as a local missionary. I served in southern Texas as a full-time missionary for two years. I had to learn Spanish while I was there. As a missionary I taught the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, such as obeying our Heavenly Father's commandments, living a virtuous life, and the plan that our Heavenly Father has for us to return to Him one day. I have always tried to live as the Savior would have me live. I am not perfect, but I try to do my best. Every week when I attend church I take the sacrament, which is the bread and the water in remembrance of the suffering of the Savior. In that special and sacred moment I try to remember my Savior and how He suffered so that I might not suffer if I would repent and try to do my best. It is important to me to remember Him everyday. In that sense I look for opportunities to serve those around me daily, whether it be helping my neighbors move, or mow a neighbors lawn, etc. Regularly I visit certain families in the local area to teach them the principles of the gospel and attend to their needs. These experiences let me know that Heavenly Father loves all of His children, and they help me to be more like Jesus Christ.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

I like to think that the best way to increase our faith is to try to live as He lived. In time we will feel the love of God and our faith in who Jesus Christ was and is will increase. By small and simple things we can increase our faith in Him, such as daily prayer asking for increased faith, daily significant scripture study. Those are the things that have helped me increase my faith in Him. Show more Show less

What are some of the ways that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps those around the world?

The Church gives help to those without food, shelter and clothing world-wide. They build water systems to those who do not have access to clean water. They send missionaries out in the thousands to preach the gospel. They support those of other faiths in joint efforts to bless the lives of the poor and needy. These are just a few of the things they do to be examples of the Savior and his work. Show more Show less
