Hi I'm Justin

I have a PhD in Biochemistry. I currently am a medical student. I am an officer in the US Air Force. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a happily married father of three active children. My wife and I were married and joined for time and all eternity in the temple more than 11 years ago. We have been through good and bad times together, and I am so grateful to have her as my eternal companion. I am currently a medical student, applying to Radiology residency programs this next year. I also have a PhD in Biochemistry. I want to work on molecular mechanisms for cancer diagnosis and treatment. I will serve my country as a physician for the United States Air Force. I served a mission for the Church in Germany, and I enjoy opportunities to speak German and French. I enjoy researching my ancestors, the lives that they lead, and the times that they lived in. I also enjoy working with Cub Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America as a Den Leader. Lastly, I love to run long distances, particularly when I can run outside.

Why I am a Mormon

There is truth in many religions and philosophies, but through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon), I have found a fullness of truth that encompasses and adds to the truths taught elsewhere. I have come closer to an understanding of Heavenly Father, of Jesus Christ, and of their plan for me than I would have through any other way. I have felt of their love for me, I have experienced the joy that comes through forgiveness through the Atonement of my Savior. I am privileged to be a bearer of the holy priesthood of God, the power of God to act in His name to bless the lives of others. I have seen the amazing blessings that come when I give, receive, or witness that holy priesthood used in people's lives. I know that families can be together forever through marriage and joining in the temple of God. Eternal families are the way to true happiness in this life and in eternity. Through the work in the temple, I know that families can be joined for all eternity. I am also so grateful that we have a living prophet and apostles who speak for God on this earth, who lead and guide us to paths of happiness, peace, and understanding. Through following their counsel, my family and I have been blessed and protected from many things that destroy families and happiness in this world.

How I live my faith

I would say that there are three major components to living my faith: 1) Family - I strive each day to be a better husband and father. As a medical student, it is challenging to find time, but it is so critical. I try to help my children to be disciples of Christ, to learn about the world around them, and to instill a love for learning and for service, so that they will be a blessing in the lives of others. Similarly, I enjoy learning about and helping my ancestors through genealogy and temple work. As a member, I have the opportunity to perform ordinances like baptism for people who did not have the opportunity in this life. 2) Service - I have always felt a joy and peace that comes through serving others. Currently, I serve as a Cub Scout den leader in the Boy Scouts of America. I help young boys develop skills and self-confidence that will make them better leaders, citizens, environmental protectors, and members of society. I also teach Sunday school at my church, and I love to teach people about the gospel. 3) The gospel of Jesus Christ - I strive to live each day to become more like my Savior. He was the perfect example of charity, humility, patience, and faith. I want to be more like Him. I try to share the joy of His gospel with others. I want them to find peace and happiness that comes through living the gospel.
